startup cost for TMGP

I'm idly considering snagging a bike for TMGP next season as well as getting a license and attending a few races. Right now I have all my gear from my big bike and nothing else. What would be a reasonable amount of money I'd have to spend in order to get on the grid for this series?

The first season, probably just sprints.

I'd plan on spending about $100 give or take for a sprint weekend.
Thats to cover entry fee's and fuel/oil for the bike.
A set of tires should last you a full season of sprints.

You should plan on getting some race spares like levers, pegs, etc. for what ever bike you pick up.(~$100)
Starting out will be the most expensive weekend because you will have to get your license($35) and what ever else you plan on starting out with(gas can, tools, safety wire, etc).
Plenty of people in the pits to help you out with your bike and registration.
It's pretty laid back really.
You'll have a blast.

i say start with a kx60. you can pick those things up all day long for about $700. add $150 worth of wheels and rubber and you are good to go!

I have a full big-bike trackday setup so I have tools, safety wire, gas cans, even tire warmers (if they'll fit a mini). I guess I just need to know the average cost of a bike as well as the average cost for a race weekend.

it just depends on how much you want to spend. Doing it "poverty racing" style can be easy and cheap. Going for the podium every race can get very expensive.

Probably the cheapest racing you can do.

My TMGP bike will be up for sale soon. See my garage.

The goal would be to do it poverty racing style although I'd spend some coin on a bike if i could use it elsewhere. Is an Aprilia RS50 legal for TMGP?

yes, but i sure would hate to ride that amongst all the other bikes that grid up. keeping that thing pretty out there might get expensive.
