WORKOUT PEOPLE, HELP!

Ok, this is my second official workout in six months, for those who missed I broke a collar bone and shoulder blade, well, the doc said my collar bone was fine in january, but not to workout till the end of feb, I gave it till now just to be safe. Truth is though, the doctor said he really doesn't know anything about working out and the stresses it may or may not cause.

So heres where I need help, I decided to do tris/delts because well.. I've only got a few dumbells to work with and no bench, but thats beside the point, the tricep excersize went fine, no probs, but I tried to do my fav version of a dumbell military press (where you start out with your palms facing you and as you go up with the dumbell you turn them to face out).

Anyways, first rep felt kinda wierd, second rep I felt a wierd sting in the part where my collarbone connects to my rotator cuff.. wasn't a muscle burn or joint pain, I'm familiar with all that, this was new.. kinda like bone stress, but it wasn't all the way down the bone, it was just at the connection point.

So I immediatly stopped, rested for a second and tried again, this time I felt it, same pain, in my shoulder blade also, in the same spot where it was broke.

From people who have been working out for a while.. am I about to mess something up or is it something I need to work through and it's feeling wierd because it hasnt been stressed like this since it was broke?

I'd really like to not pay 50 bucks to ask my doc so any advice is appreciated..

edit: I just tried again with a 20lb weight instead of a 30, and I didn't feel the wierd sting, this sucks though because 20 is too light and 30 is just right for me now.. son of a , hopefully the bone will strengthen and not be permanently messed up.

i dunno what to do.. basically because you broke your bone and it could be still weaken and muscles and tendons that are attached aren't strong enough. if this is so then push through with the pain and work out but do the reps nice and slow. When you work out use light weight and don't try to push yourself to do something you can't do without a spot. remember you can get strong from doing less weight and more reps instead of doing heavy weights. everytime i do bench my shoulder hurts from my working out too much and messing up my rotator cuff. surgery isn't something i would do to fix it because because i know people who have had surgery done to fix the pain and now can't even bench 1/4 of what they used to. the pain doesn't get worse it just will be there off and on and is something i've learn to put aside.

Go light at first for sure. I have had several shoulder injuries (thanks motorcycles) and you just have to except you are going to have to deal with the set back and move light weight for a while.

ramius, take it easy at first and build your way back up to your usual weights. If you were in a rehab center, they would give you a 5lb weight to start, not 30lbs. Take it slow and things will come around.

Start llight, use perfect form. Several sets of reps. Work it back to weight you were use to gradually. 3-4 week min. I have tendonitis in several joints from all sorts of accidents, work it back slow.
