Are apartment garages safe??

I won't be able to buy a home for about 1-2 years, so until then I'll be finding an apartment somewhere in Houston. I'll definitely get one with a garage.

Have yall ever heard of anybody breaking into apartment garages? I will have several bikes in there as well as other stuff and wasn't too sure if they are hard to break in to.

I'm sure as long as your not keeping your garage open so people can see what you have in there you'll be fine. either way get apt renters insurance, that way you'll be covered.

i've got a garage at my apt, but it is on the otherside of the property. It cost 65 extra, but it's big enough to fit my small car in there when i need to. My apartment is gated too, so I feel okay about it.

There is this one time i went to open it and 3 other garage doors opened up! One garage had a mercedes AMG in it. haha. I got mine and one other garage to close, but i couldn't get the others to shut at the same time without leaving mine open.

I'm a nice guy and called the apt staff and reported the problem.

Glad to see there are some honest people around--
This is also why when you get an automatic garage door opener, you should change the code on the unit and remote to differentiate the code from others around you...Don't leave it on the factory code (usually all 0's or 1's)

Years back when I was moving a lot, I kept mine in several apt. garages.

I would get a ground lock shackle and mount it to the floor with lag bolts, and locked the bike to it.
I always kept the door shut except when I was pulling the bike in or out to be able to keep a low profile, and I beefed up the cheap entry door on 2 of them.
On the last one, which was in a crappy neighborhood, I put a "screamer" alarm on the main door.

+1 to that^^^ You should lock the bike to the concrete anchor. Im about to go install one of these at school one night this week

Or, you could get theft coverage on the bike for less or nearly the same price as a garage.
