Two people died overnight in separate Houston accidents.

The first happened around 9:45 p.m. Friday in the 2600 block of Genoa Red Bluff.

The driver of a black Acura headed eastbound on Genoa Red Bluff tried to pass a slow-moving vehicle and crashed head-on into a blue Suzuki motorcycle traveling westbound.

The 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed, Houston Police Department spokesman Victor Senties said.

Another fatal crash happened about 1:45 a.m. today in the 12200 block of Almeda Road.

In that accident, a Honda Civic stopped at a traffic light was rear-ended by the driver of a red Toyota Tundra.

“The female passenger in the Honda was killed and the driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital in critical condition,” Senties said.

The driver of the Toyota pickup, who suffered minor injuries, is possibly facing an intoxication manslaughter charge, Senties said.

RIP hope the driver of the Acura was caught and charged with murder.

I think it will depend on the determined speed of the motorcycle. If the bike was speeding excessively it would have contributed greatly to the cause of the accident.

I'm by no means laying blame on the biker, but we have to consider the possibility that the guy was speeding as we all do the same from time to time. Or all the time for a few of us.

If the Acura driver is solely responsible then hopefully he gets the punishment he deserves.

Either way it's a shame to lose another one.
