Picking up a...

WR426 with 450 cams and some other mods... really looking forward to the off-season now!

Pics soon...

But does anyone have any "big boy" gear they want to get rid of? I'll be buying a new helmet, but I will be looking for chest protection and other gear... pants, boots, etc.

Can't wait, this thing is supposed to be a monster!

Trails, MX, or motard?

For gear, check out Craigslist, and another good site is www.houstonmotocross.com and www.texasoffroad.net

Thanks Tim, I'll check 'em out.

I am just getting it for the off-season, so trails and MX is about it. Not 'tarding it, but the thought of doing a Russel Sands style GP conversion did cross my mind... and I do have a couple of front ends laying around the shop...

I took it for a ride today in the fields, fun! I've never ridden a modern dirt bike before, it's nothing like what I remember from years ago.

I know someone selling a used leatte adult size if interested.

a 426 is a REAL thumper with gobs of torque. I have a 08 450 and the sound between the two are very noticeable. If im not mistaken the cam mod mkaes it easier to start(if jetted somewhat close)

That's what I heard too, and it does start pretty easily. I even killed it at the back of the pasture and got really worried I was going to have to push it all the way back; but it started up nicely and I was able to ride back!

I'd really be interested in the Leatte Brace, I'd also like to have a chest/ back protector, I need boots too...

I have some gloves and a decent helmet, but I think I'm going to get a new helmet.

The bike is a monster! You're right about the torque, pulls like a freight train! Running through the gears at WOT is like a 2-stroke and it just pulls pulls pulls.

The bike handles really well too, in the loose dirt and through the cracks in the ground it was predictable and easy to turn.

I'd like to spend more time on it before I hit any tracks, but having a track a few blocks from my house isn't helping that... I'll try to resign myself to my pastures for now!
