Leathers For Street Riding

When I picked up street riding again I thought wearing leathers was overkill. On the first weekend in April, I met CaligoneTx for the first time on a forest ride. It was warm that day and he was in full leathers. I asked him what he wore in August and he said "this". I thought he was nuts.

Near the end of June I did my first track day at MSRH. I rented a 1 piece racing suit and worried about the heat. It was near 100 that day but the suit was perforated and I was really surprised at the amount of air flow I got while riding.

After witnessing several street crashes over the last few months I finally bought my own set and wore them most of the day during street rides last Saturday and Sunday. The heat is not that bad. If you wear a helmet in the Summer, you're still going to sweat even if you wear a t-shirt and shorts. It's better to be a little sweaty than a lot .

Factor is a cost for some people, but how much have you spent on mods for your bike? How much would a trip to the emergency room cost? Shouldn't you modify your body with leathers before you spend a bunch of money to modify your bike?

Leathers are very convenient. Before I got a set, I don't know how many times I geared up, put on my jeans and boots, and realized "you forgot to put on your knee/shin guards, dummy", and then had to get dressed all over again. A one piece suit is self contained. You only have to put on one thing and it's all together in one location in your home.

I'm going to wear mine every time I go on a group ride and look forward to wearing them during my commute to work when it's cold.

Just my $.02

I think that's great! Me, I don't see myself wearing a one piece on the street.

It would suck to go to jail in that.

Making my purchase today I hope... on a fieldsheer suit.
Bevo the price you paid is their everyday online price. I thought about getting the same style suit but opt for the FS.

You can also stuff bags of ice inside your suit to help keep you cool on those hot days.
