Question about the carousel at MSRH ...

One of the places I'd like to improve is the carousel at MSRH, so I'm just fishing for opinions here...

Where do you come off the gas and start braking and where do you start your turn in?

I tend to hug the inside of the turn and find myself start to drift out to the middle when I see the second set of cones blocking off the cut throughs.

Thanks

For that track, the best advice will come from Larry, Dustin, Alonzo, Buck or Linz. Try doing a TD with Buck, that will help a lot.

the carousel is by far my favorite turn at MSRH

assuming this is a 600 and running clockwise

let's back up a little...
I usually shift into 4th while lining up the front straight and rail in 4th for the whole straight...hugging the right side of the track
I down shift into 3rd and catch a medium/soft brake at the middle-end of the black top run off curbing on the right side of the straight and feather the brake all the way while entering the carousel...there's a black streak at the beginning of the carousel...i try to get just barely inside of that

then approx 3/4 open throttle in 3rd will carry you through at a pretty decent pace...body way off the bike...watch the bumps at the end right as you are passing the track exit...great transition from left to right for getting into the pit straight

I let off the gas a little and i'm normally inside to middle of track. I then looks for the small black patch as my exit/set up point for the right hander that put you on the stright away.

When I'm really filling one with my bike I break at the tires on the right or just a few feet before them. I hold my line about 3 feet from the right of the track then when breaking I dive in towards the apex trailing off as I get to it making it as straight of a turn as I can. It's a really long turn so you can run in deep this way. I end up pretty close to the inside of the turn. After apexing I start getting on the gas slowly which pushes me out some and I end up being on the inside of the little ripples, but still hit them all the time. Then transition to the right to make that little retarded turn back and point and shoot down the straight. I end up usually almost hitting or going over the curbing on the exit.
Like Alonzo told me you have to ride with your legs thru that turn since it's so bumpy, which allows your suspension to do it's thing better.
Hope this helps. I'm no expert by any means, it's just how I do it when I end up turning a decent lap time. Watch Ty Howards video out there. That's were I picked it up and he fast right so I figured he was an excellent choice to copy from. lol

No mention of the track record holder? Ty Howard?

go to www.youtube.com/ridesmart1

look for MSRH lines with Ty Howard. If you want to know how THE fastest guy gets around that track.
