AMA rules interpretation

Yet another classic by DMG/AMA

"The intent of a specific rule will override a competitor's interpretation of a rule. The intent of a rule will be determined by AMA Pro Racing."

While I'm no fan of the AMA, that's a pretty standard theme. The governing body has the final say on the interpretation of the rules, not the competitors.

That statement says to me "our rules aren't actually rules they're just guidelines. And they're really not even guidelines, basically we'll just make it up as we go to generate as much money (read: keep the stars at the front of the pack) as is possible."

That's how I read it too........

I guess the "intend" to protect "The Show" by creative interpretation.

you can punish people for breaking the letter of the rule, but not the intent of the rule. If the Intent of the rule is not obvious enough, then the rule needs to be made more clear.
