The law only says that it must be mounted at 'the rear of the vehicle' and must be lit by a white light making it visible at 50' (at night). Nothing more.

'Rear of the vehicle' is subjective since tow trucks do not have their plates mounted at the rear of the vehicle (I actually won a court case on this premise). In your case the officer could argue that the plate was obstructed due to the mouting brackets.

Costas - Was it during the daytime? It's my understanding that you don't need the lite for daytime driving. I could be wrong though.

I was pulled over because I was the last rider (slowest rider) in a group of Ducatis

I am going to move it because I don't want to deal with the BS. The photo I used was not my bike...the plate was mounted "like" mine.

I snapped two photos of my bike below with the plate and illumination on the battery box .

OK, so I installed the new license plate bracket and made a light bracket to shine it up.

Now Texas's finest won't have to waste their time with me.

, I believe the information is kept in the system of the department you were stopped by. They do this to see how many times the vehicle and driver have been handled by that department.

Inspection sticker is in violation. State law says "near" the license plate.
