in theory its a good idea but too many people mess around on here, so it would not be accurate

Hmmm, what if we did a trial run of it for a week or so to see what happened, is it able to be turned on and off to test it?

I understand if it's a definate no but if we could just try it I think it would ad an extra dimension to the site..

One thing about people getting "neg bombed" is that it's policed by other users and moderators too.. for example, you have to give a reason when you rep someone either good or bad.. just because you disagree with sonmeone doesn't mean you can justify negging them, but if they are out of line with the context of the thread or other obvious reasons it would be a good reason.

Of course if someone got negged for a dumb reason, they could post about it, and the person who negged for no reason would be dealt with by other people who felt they were outa line..

I know it sounds wierd and it is.. but.. what are the chances of having a trial run to see how it takes?

slashdot.org has a decent system. Karma points and comment moderation. Not everyone gets to moderate. Moderators are selected at random and given say 5 mod points. They have to use them within a week or so I think. BUT in addition to the mods, everyone is a meta-moderator in which you mod the mods. As a user you can set your mod level above a certain threshold so you don't see the post-whoring, flames etc.

It seems to work ok.

What pic are ya'll posting? I missed it!
