When does exhaust become too loud?

When does exhaust noise levels become too loud? I have been getting some pretty mean looks lately on my honda ruckus scooter from, not the one, but the two lesbian couples around the corner, when they're walking their dogs, gardening, or outside chatting with each other.

So I decided to let them know what my supermoto bike sounds like. They did not look pleased. I can comfortably say that most of the neighborhood at 7pm yesterday was not pleased.

Anyhow, as I was pulling back into my garage the thought struck me that my exhaust on the 400 is too loud. I get the meanest looks when I am just idling that thing out of the urban-suburb that I live in. Should I care? Should I change it?

If they want to eat .....you should be able to have a loud exhaust, I'm sure they get funny looks too, unless they're lipstick lesbians

i've never actually had a bike that I said, whoa this is just excessive until I put the yoshi on the 400. I personally think that it may be too loud, or maybe I am just getting soft.

Make a deal with them. If they let you join on the carpet licking, you'll let them handle your pipe

i doubt your yosh is too loud....thumpers sound too good to be too loud.

I find many bikes too loud.

Its the same as the dumb teenagers running around with the stereos blaring - its annoying and inconsiderate. Don't be THAT guy!

Was at track with buddy driving his car and they had decibel meter. My bike registered 108db standing behind it about 15 ft. It is very loud without earplugs or ipod, but I could care less. As others mentioned I try to have some cooth in neighborhoods, but other than that it is what it is. I think sometime the tone of the sound can be as irritating/annoying as the actual level of noise it is making.

my two bros pipes in the past have had nothing on this.

loudness of my bikes is:

400 > 426 > 929 > 250 = ruckus

this is the first bike where I have begun to think about wearing ear plugs on. i am considerate in the neighborhood, but I think even at idle it has got to be upsetting my neighbors.

Anyone on hear that knows me knows that my R6 was F'n loud!! And knows that it sucked ridin next to me on the freeway or anywhere for that matter. As long as I stayed at the back of the groupeveryone was happy and everyone heard us comin. What I'm tryin to get at is as long as you don't have the cops called on you constantly don't worry about it. It doesn't matter what the minivan drivin suburbians care about. You're the one ridin in traffic and the more heard/visable you are the better. Just wait until yall hear my new 10 its wicked loud
