WSBK: Haga passed fit to race at Brno

Quote:
Noriyuki Haga says he will be riding for 'as many points as possible' in the latest round of the World Superbike Championship at Brno after confirming he will participate in the event.

Championship leader Haga's title hopes were thrown into jeopardy following the previous Donington Park round after an accident in the second race of the day landed him in hospital with a suspected fractured vertebra.

However, further tests would see his injuries downgraded to a fractured ulna, as well as a painful shoulder, ailments that have ensured Haga is able to make the trip to the Czech Republic.

Even so, having missed the two-day mid-season test at Imola, the Japanese rider admits he isn't quite at the peak of physical fitness, meaning he has his sights set firmly on fighting for points.

“After the crash at Donington I've been doing a lot of physiotherapy in order to get back into shape as quickly as possible and in time for Brno," said the Ducati Xerox rider. "It's a pity I couldn't take part in the Imola testing as that would have been very useful but it was just too soon and it's more important to be fit to race.

“I'm not sure that my arm and shoulder will be 100% by the weekend but I'm confident I'll be ready for the races and will fight to take as many points as possible.”

Sounds positive
I'll withold further judgement until I see him ride as these are the same officials that declared Hopkins fit!!

You know Haga just wont go away. I am a Spies fan but the races just aren't the same with Haga beating down the door.

Glad to see him getting better and I look forward to seeing what he can do. I think he is probably the toughest Japanese rider I have ever seen race. Just a tough dude and he rides through all kinds of medical issues...

I would much rather see Haga and Spies battling for the championship down to the wire than just a run away victory from either of them. Hopefully Haga can get some good points this race and hang in there and get even better for next race (another month off).

Ben for the win, but is definately more exciting with Haga in the mix.
