gearing

I got a DID 520 conversion kit with -1 +3 but am wondering if + 3 will be too much. Should i get a 520 45t or go with the +3? Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

-1 +3 sounds like alot. i would bet your front end would come up with even the slightest throttle. I had -1 +2 on the R6 and it was too much at times.

You realize -1/+3 is = to +6 on the rear? You are gunna top that thing out trolling the freeway. I didn't see anything mentioning a speedo healer either. LOL.

Is this for track or street?

I'd leave the rear stock.
I owned an '04 R1 with -1 front and stock rear and it was more than enough.

Sounds like i need a 520 45 or 46t.

I did think of a healer and it being Real jumpy, also the high rpm's thats the whole reason for this ?. -1+3 = +6 and that seems like more than i want.

The 520 is going to wear out quicker. The only advantage to the 520 is it is lighter. If you are racing competitevely, and need every 10th of a second, sure; but if it is for looks................

520 better acceleration/handling around corners will last close to the time if you keep it lubed. Sprockets and chain is cheaper.

530 looks like a drag racer and cost some $$$

If doing TD's or just wanting a better handling accelerating bike 520, IMHO, Just keep it lubed.

good point and great advice!

but a lot of these literbike street guys with their 520's love breaking teeth off of their sprockets....and sad to say, but most track guys take better care of their crappy track bikes vs. street guys and their show bikes.

btw, you also do realize you just gave sound advice about sprockets/gearing right?

I run the -1 +2 on a 750 and kept the 525, I like to wheelie so I need the strenght of the bigger chain, Ive ran 4 different tracks now and the gearing has worked great at all of them, I ran a stock rear for 2 sessions at TWS (Texas World Speedway) and changed back 2 + on the rear , it also helps slow you down while engine breaking.

I take pretty good care of my bike or try to.

I read something saying u dont need a 530 unless your pushing 200hp or draging with turbo or boost. Something to that extent and thats why i bought it in the first place. My bike isnt pushing 200hp by no means.

Now my ? goes back to stock rear or + any?

-2+10 would b cool on another bike not this one.
