I dont care for the drz and have ridden both bikes on the track/trail, and if you maintain your bike and arent bangin it off the rev limiter or MOTARDING it then it (RMZ)will be an awesome ride period..The older RMZ's had a 4 spd trans so get a newer one if its in your budget if anything for versatility. I rode a 01 YZ426F for 2 yrs and had zero issues and no valve adjustments were ever needed and currently ride a 08 KX450F. Being around mx my whole life i personally see Yamaha's and Kawasaki's proving to be the most durabie consistantly and Honda's being the worst due to their lawn mower(rocker arm style) valve train and soft valve material used. I havent owned a current KTM so i can help you their and this is just my opinion based from my experiences and the mx communit.

yup! they are no designed for long periods of high rpm riding...compred to mx or offroad where you are constantly on and off the gas! Just my two cents...
