just purchased some hong kong aftermarket fairings from ebay and forgot to put on the foam insulation, will the heat affect the fairing if its not installed?

I would say no but I would have put the insulation on just to be safe...if its close to a sticker then it may cause the glue to come off....maybe distort the paint..dunno better safe than sorry

hey this is important! i bought some ABS plastic fairings last summer and they had some heat insulation on them already. but it still completely melted the center piece that holds the 2 lower fairings together and caused my lower fairings to start to melt. i would get some insulation for sure if there is none. but i would get some exhaust heat wrap and wrap those headers! I tried to get the fairings warrantied because they said they would replace them no matter what. I was gonna be nice and let them resolve the issue before i posted feedback on ebay. they responded a few times and delayed everything until it was too late for me to leave feedback and then never heard from them ever again! watch out! i will only buy American from now on! i spent near $700 for my fairings and waited 3 months for that bull to go down :(

the heat wrap on the headers is key. wish i woulda put that on b4. if you put it on make sure you use a long sleeve shirt. i think i used 50 feet of wrap i think. took me a couple hours. looks kinda cool when its done too

oh, and you might get a fraction of a horsepower gain from it too. it keeps the heat in the pipes and helps with exhaust scavenging by allowing the gasses to travel faster out the pipes.

for sure!

you just have to deal with the smoking for a week or 2 and when it gets wet for the first time also. gotta break that heat wrap in!
