My windy ride home!

Jeeze! The wind is blowing out there. I had a serious oh !! moment. I was crusing on my way home from Tiki Island to Dickinson on 45 and a huge gust of wind blew me so hard that I almost went into another lane. Is there some way I can compensate for the wind other than the tuck postion.

Did anyone else ride today?

I know what you mean Candie. At least an 18 wheeler didn't pass you up. The first time that happened to me it freaked me out! The wind was already bad and that didn't help

As Moody said, stretch ur leg out against the wind direction.
also, keep ur body flexible, dont be stiff. It "feels like" its gonna take the bike out from under u when u r being stiff and trying to counteract wind's force and trying to keep the bike in same line. letting the bike be swayed around a lil bit will lessen wind's force on the bike ( for technical minded, u reduce the "relative speed" at impact time by doing that)

Thanks! I will try that the next windy day! Makes sence! I do tend to tence up while riding. It is a habit I am trying to get out of!

yups. not just during wind, u should always be flexible on the bike. ur arms should act like an extension of front forks (they act against it by remaining stiff), ur legs should act like ext of rear suspension, ur body should act like extension of the bike itself, moving with the bike and not against

(, i started blabbering the "weird " stuff again :icon_bigg )

the bad part about today was that it was really gusty.

all i can tell you is leave your self enough room in the lane to correct your self when a big gust comes along

It was blowing my 10 ton suburban around on the highway so I know anyone on a bike had to have been struggling.

+1 to the stick your leg out though, it acts like a sail and the wind moves it instead of the bike some kinda way..

Only problem is people are gonna think your lettin one loose when you hike it out like that.
