too expensive. the cbr1000f was never a great bike. very heavy, and really underpowered.

Never a great bike? I would like to disagree. You have to consider everything out at the time in it's class. The ZX-11 was faster but not better. The 91 was the best year for the CBR1000F. It was Honda's flagship sportbike and the build quality was better than anything to date. It weighed 605 lbs and had 115 hp to the wheel but it handled excellent and the engine has zero vibration. It had an honest 160mph top speed. The handling on these bikes is wonderful and make the weight an afterthought. Two up riding is great too. If the bike is mint $3000 dollars would be a good price but it wouldnt hurt to try to lowball for it. But be warned, a CBR600F3 or F4 would run neck and neck with it in performance when they came out. Imagine how a modern 600 compares. BTW, I owned a 94 and still consider it one of the best quality motorcycles ever.

it may have been their flagship sportbike in 91, but with the HUGE advances made in 92-94 with the release of the redesigned cbr600f2, and the cbr900rr, the cbr1000f got left behind. i used to ride with a guy that had one back in the mid-90's. he'd get left by my 900rr every time, straight line, or twisties. i stand firm in the belief that the bike is unremarkable, especially compared with bikes just a couple years newer.

Ver good point on the 900RR coming out soon thereafter. That bike was LEGENDARY, and imo, set the precedent for all sportbikes to follow!

Little bit pricey, but if your into that year and style offer 2800. You can pick up a 99-03 1000 for like 4-4.5k though. Craigslist must be watched constantly, those good deals are always out there but go fast.
