SIDENOTE: this is actually the SECOND serious accident ive been in...and now TWO times i was lucky because of NO seatbelt. but even more serious and lucky this time..

The problem is that it does affect you as well as the other people who buy insurance and pay taxes. Best case, the non-helmet wearers have motorcycle and health insurance and after they wreck, the premiums go up for EVERYBODY.

Worst case the riders have inadequate medical insurance and the government ends up picking up the tab.

We simply do not have the stomach in our society to allow people to completely assume the consequences of their own actions up to and including death.

Look, of course those people become a burden on the whole system but in this society, politicking and personal political gains will ALWAYS win out over common sense and whats right. We cam all argue til the cows come home and leave again and it will do nothing because it is up to some politicians that care nothing for the public, just for their careers.

using this same logic, i don't want people that have been in more then 2 car wrecks to be mandated to drive a vehicle worth no more than $1000. they have been in enough wrecks that the insurance companies have had to pay out a lot of money and that raises my car insurance rates. if it wasn't for people being in wrecks, my insurance would be much cheaper.

don't like the price of motorcycle insurance, then get liability only or don't ride

the fact is, a veh. has to have ins. to drive on the roads (legally)
if you wreck often your ins. will be sky high, legally, you either pay it or don't drive.

you don't have to have med. ins. to ride a bike. legally.

i'm all for signing your life away if you can't afford it. society won't allow it.

If you want to lick dead smashed bugs off of your lips or have gravel, rocks, sand or whatever thrown in your face at hwy speeds good for you, but when i have to wait in traffic to have someone srape your head off of the road your just being a pain in the a$$, and for what? so you can look cool being a super squid? you have to ware a seatbelt in the car, but not a helment and driving gloves like you would on a track, why not put on a lid. not full leathers and track gear. laws are in place to protect us, and if you dont want to fine, you might have to pay a ticket but its still your choice. you dont like the helmet take your ticket or get a bicycle or car. want to feel the wind in your hair get a convirtable or roll your windows down, no one said you had to buy a bike.
