Do both feet have to be down?

The people I ride with on a regular bases we got pulled over friday for not putting both feet down when we come to a complete stop. Now I know one foot was down for sure when we stopped. So is it a law both feet have to be down or was he just messing with us because the first question he asked was were we drinking. And two of the guys we were riding with didn't have a liceance so they got a long speach, but we all got off with no tickets.

Pretty sure that isn't a law. I never put two feet down.

Ditto. I have to slide one cheek off the seat just to get one foot flat on the ground!

maybe they're taught to look for that as a sign for a motorcycle coming to a complete stop? just like they look for your head to bob forward when you stop in a car

maintain control of the vehicle is all that you are responsable for. if it takes 2 feet then use both of them, but no you are not required to have both feet down. i know this because about 5 years ago when i got my license i asked the same question. cop just wated to give you guys a hard time, thats probably why he didnt write any tickets.

One foot down is the rule for a complete stop. They are lucky that they didnt get a ticket for the lack of M endorsement.

I just put down whatever feels comfortable at the time. If I know I'll be there a while both go down, but if I'm planning on the light turning green soon only one goes down. I'm glad to know he didn't give a ticket for not having the license since I'll be riding a lot Sunday(weather permitting) in Galveston, and I don't have one either. , I just got insurance today, but today was the first time I've really taken the bike out.

no, actually its the cessation of forward movement. has nothing to do w/ feet down. as long as the bike stops moving forward your within the law.

but it's easier to just avoid the area, if the cops are gonna hassle you. if you go back and get hassled who's the stupid one?
