Oh man, hwy 170 has some killer jumps on it. I caught air on it 3 times on the gixxer. I also did some hiking down there and saw the window as they call it. It is a 2.5 mile hike down a river to a waterfall. It was awesome. Here are a few of my pictures from there.

naah, we dint hike south rim, though everybody says its got gr8 view.

ours was a short trip, with zero planning..while fleeing houston for hurricane rita, we decided to drive out to big bend instead of just putting up in motels around austin. so dint end up doing lots of stuff which we wld have done there otherwise.
but , it was still sucha fun trip.. something's better than nothing.:icon_smil

ya, those are some of the best trips. My brother and I went one time where we decided to leave friday, drove all night, hiked all saturday and then drove all saturday night back to houston to get stuff done on Sunday.
More time in the truck then hiking, but such a great spur of the moment trip
Next time you plan on going let me know, I can loan ya some maps to some cool spots, and some gear if ya need it.
Or each year our group that goes is getting bigger, everyone is invited to go

Oh and I am no rock climber either, just some simple easy stuff . The cracks are deep enough in some places to almost get half a finger in.

man, sounds like we were in basically all the same places at the same time, probably even passed each other on the trail.

And I agree about the rabbits. Did you drive 118 or any of those roads at night? There was a TON of deer, I'd be way scared of those guys as well.

I know between work and I started taking even more classes at night my time lately has been stretched thin. I will definitely check pretty often

Ya deer were everywhere too.
If ya saw a big tall guy walking with a short small lady who had a bright yellow pack on then ya saw my wife an I
You probably saw Mule (travis) he was carrying a kelty pack stuffed with you name it, and he had a big camo jacket wrapped around it. Looked like it weighed 100 lbs. :laughing6

Also if you went up the pinnacle trail on wednesday morning, did you see the poor girl who was at the top with her shoes busted ? The one time I did not bring any duct tape , and I run into someone who really needed it. That had to be a trip down for her
