Honda is a800cc v4 only the 990 was a v5,no gp engine technology shares any thing with a production bike.

This is somewhat true. As already stated, the technology seen in today's MGP bikes "trickle down" the technology to production classes.

Example:

09 R1 is specifically based off the M1 MGP bike
Ducati's traction control for the 1198 was first tested and refined in MGP

Also to be noted, the tire companies use MGP riders and freepractice for testing their tire technology. Although this year that has changed due to Bstone becoming a single tire for MGP.


This year Ducati has been seriously testing a carbon firbre frame and swingarm which we will probably see in production bikes within 5 years.
