Unhappy power wheelie question 600 CBR vs 600Ninja

Ok so trying (crappy) to learn to wheelie. Buddy of mine has a nice CBR600 09 he can hit one doing about 40 in first and hitting the ol gas. he is about 8500-9K rpm. now my bike is a 600 ninja 07 @ 40 im only at around 7.5-8k rpm. front end wont come up when I hit it. I read somewere on here that the the ninja dont come alive till about 10K I feel this when im hitting it at 10k or so the bike jumps foward like no tommorrow so 2 questions

Should I give up doing the PW at 40 and hit up to 65-70 when I get around 10K rpm (real answers please)
Or somewere here I read one or soem of you guys hitting second to hit the PW? I really would like some advice.

Jimmy

I've never rode a Kawi, but my 600RR will power up in 1st around 6K - 7K depending on how much gas is in the tank. Of course it comes up super easy at 9 -10K but you run out of RPM's quickly.

If you are just starting to learn to do whoolies, i wouldn't recommmend clutching it in first, You'll probably end up on your back.

??? Not Sure ???

From what Ive been told if your trying to power it up in first:
Go about 30-35mph in 1st shut the throttle down and when the front start to compress open the throttle back up. It will come up, cover the rear brake and clutch DONT cover the front brake...

I can finnaly find balance point in first gear (only took 4 years!) CLUTCHING it at about 20mph. I never do power wheelies, they scare the out of me, I feel like I have no control.

If you want to end up with no bike, cuz you looped it, then contenue to do 1st gear Power wheelies lol seriously i've seen it happen more then once. But if you want to learn how to ride a nice wheelie learn to clutch it up in second gear, at first it feels dangerous (cuz it is) but once you get the feel for it "coming up so quickly" you can work with it and get the hang of it.

Go ahead and order some Kevlar clutch plates, your WILL burn yours up over time.

And now you have herd from the wheelie king
