Rear Shock Shocker

On my last several rides my bike has been off. I really couldn't pin point it at first. But I finally figured it out, rear shock is blown. No biggie, right. Just get another one. I was shocked to find out OEM rear shock is $500+. Jeez, these things gold plated or what?

As far as one knows, the one you posted a link to is just as good as mine, which isn't that good.

most stock shocks are gone or dying by 15-20k miles, or less.

get a Wilburs rear shock.

And that's the range my bike is in right now, pushing 17k. When I said "blown" shock, I guess I was probably overstating the situation. It just ain't up to my standards since I can feel the deterioration.

I paid 3 k for a track bike and it turns out the shock on it went for 1200. I broke it and I'm that it's going to cost 500 to fix. Ah well, the pros and cons of buying good used stuff....
If I were you, and I'm not, I'd try one off ebay on the theory that most peeps sell them there after doing a non required upgrade and not after they go to .
If you're going to track it take the hit on a ohlins or penske, Gawd awful expensive, and worth it.
I can't see paying big bucks for a new OEM shock that's not all that good to begin with.
