Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength-

I would think the smart way would be planing a day or so ahead knowing what the wind will do. such as now when there is a high presure. from that you can estimate what direction and plan a landing location from that. (and where you take off of course) wind direction is usually consistant. for instants in the winter we have winds from the north, where as in summer winds come from the south. they have been maping wind currents since the first sailors. (vikings? maybe earlier? im not a history major.) but good question I would like to know from someone that actually does that as a hobby.:/: but im pretty sure thats how they do it.

A lot goes into ballooning. You actually have to get a Balloon pilot's license from the FAA.

To guide the balloon, you catch the currents in the air at different altitudes. Just because the wind on the ground is 10 knots at 320, that doesnt mean the air at 500ft is the same. Balloons in Albuquerque could ride "the box." If you take off on the west side of town and gain altitude, the currents will carry you east towards the mountains, then all you have to do is lose some altitude and the currents will carry you back to where you took off. They could also get really low on the Rio Grande and the cool air over the river could pull them 20 miles.

If I remember correctly, you can balloon below a certain altitude without clearance. If you plan on getting high enough, you have to contact the FAA.

I'm not an expert on the matter, but I am a student pilot.
