noob's first real ride

Well, my gloves and boots got here yesterday which meant I finally have all my gear. I have been going around the neighborhood the last couple of days since I had only my jacket, back prot, and helmet. Tonight I went up and down Durham, then I went up and down the 59 service road. Finally I said, F it, i feel pretty good and got on 59 south, to 610 to I 10. Man, I have never had that much fun before in my life. I felt like a bobblehead.....

gonna be tough to sleep tonite. I am such a :newbie:

tell u what man, good job. you are in for the ride of the rest of your life!

man, your post takes me back. i remember the first time i took my bike onto the highway. i did 70 mph, and felt like it was 7,000,000 mph. all tucked in motogp style. eyeballs as big as a softball. hehe. everyday i live for that moment. of course, 70 doesnt quite do what it used to for me, but on a bike that feeling is always with you.

welcome to your new anti-drug: natural adrenaline.

i wanted to ride soooo bad to work today, but I think it would be a better idea to get more practice. I have to take I 10 to 610 s to 59 s. Imma give myself a couple more days practice, and the weekend before I think about tackling morning traffic.

Before you know it you will be relegating your car/truck to grocery getter status.

Congrats.
yeah, I am looking forward to that. For now, im just trying to get used to the bike and be a smooth rider.

I was thinking about getting custom leathers and helmet with "smooth operator" all over....but my wife convinced me not to do that. I am sure I def would have been the coolest rider in H-town tho....

im obviously joking

I got the ninja 650 last month. It was a toss up between the sv650 and what I ended up getting. and I'm a newb as well. It's so much fun. I think the realization of how great it was to ride was when I rode way down towards the ren festival and could smell the fresh cut grass, then smelling FRESH air and seeing the fields.. it was all like a dream. btw be assured that if you are liking it now you will be racking up the miles :laughing6 I've put over 2500 on my bike in just about 4 1/2 weeks

Words can't even describe how I felt that day. Pure happiness and a sense of calm.
I wish I had that choice. I like the ninja 650r too, but they are so new that they werent in my price range. how do you like it so far? have you had a chance to ride an sv? comparisons?
