Buying a New Cycle

Sure. We all have one. For those who have a new cycle, what was your experience like? The price on that new, shiney motorcycle says (fill in dollar amount here) but, what unexpected numbers suddenly were added to the sticker price? Were you able to NEGOTIATE with the salesman? And if so, what were you able to negotiate? what locations gave you the best deal?
I'm not looking to BASH any particular dealership; just looking for the best deal possible. And who wouldn't want that?

I cant help you with the haggling. The only bike I bought new was my 10R. It was the only titanium left in the state, and they had to go pick it up almost 300 miles away. I payed FULL STICKER just to get the bike I wanted.

some places charge freight and setup... can be $500 or more... some places charge assembly, then a warranty usually about $1200... you should PM mack954, or ask this to texas yamaha, they are a sponsor here

freight setup and assembly are the 3 things you can make = 0 if you just haggle

they taught us to sell bikes and make those three words run off your tongue quickly and say oh yeah you have to pay it.. then if they were about to walk out they were the first things to go away.

I knew TTL would add more the to price so I wasn't shocked, there were no hidden costs. The finance guy & Frank (different occasions) walked me through all the numbers so nothing was hidden & I knew it all up front before I signed anything. They made me feel comfortable when I asked a lot of questions & didn't rush me. They have a new finance guy there now, so not sure about him, but I would still say hit up Frank if you go there & tell him I referred ya!
so you didn't look?

Keep it up guys! I believe we need a section just for this purpose. This website is for like minded people and we ALL want a bike; we just ALL don't want to get screwed in the process of getting one. Helpful hints help and go a long way. Also, recommendations are a help toward the sales people for more sales. Again, I'm not looking to BASH any shop, just looking to be "BUYER-SAVY!"

i say shop around until someone gives you a good price. Dont just walk in and say "write it up, ill take it"

I would look, sit on and see what you like. I dont like pushy saleman either. That makes me walk out even if they are cheaper.

http://www.freedommotorsports.org/ has the best prices I found. That was for my 08 Raven R1. And prices were posted on their website. I was amazed how much money I saved with them. My buddy got took for $900 more on a red R1. And he thought he got a good deal

Stubbs SW gave me the best deal around town. I got my bike OTD for $1000 cheaper than the MSRP. Plus they hooked me up with some freebie Carbon Fiber pads for the bike. Other dealers would only take no more than $500 off.

I had even told another place what Stubbs was giving it to me for, and they called me a liar!

There is a spot in Arlington that beats every Houston's dealers deal everytime. Google is your friend.

I called around to see who had the best price and then went to AJ Foyt and said if you beat it I will buy the bike lol. They beat the price by $500 and I walked out with the zx14.
