I've been doing some reading on calories in vs calories out and everywhere i read they state that it's important to know about how many calories your body burns while at rest in order to accurately plan for how many calories one should consume to target weight loss.
I've googled this topic and am extremely confused on how to determine this :-/ is there a specific name to the equation I am looking for? Or does anyone one on here already have the formula ect. that i could go by? I have limited browsing time online today so if any one could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

Yep or an easy way is take your weight and put a zero behind it. Its a good estimation, thats pretty much which that calculator did. LOL
Oh you might be suprised that the number that you get is much higher and sound contrary to everything you might know about calorie counting!!! Dont be! Most people have no clue as to the correct calories that they should be consuming and its sad. But its just what everyone keeps passing along bad info so its just kinda stuck.
So you want to take that BMR number that you get and add a few hundred calories because you need to give your body what it needs plus add a little for your excerising and that will create your negative. How are you tracking them now? and how many are you eating? A great website and free one is fitday.com.
I have just started buckeling down and looking into competing in womens figure competion, think Jamie Eason, and I am trying to loose just a few pounds so right now I am eatin between 1700-1800 calories! And have only been doing it for a few days but have already seen awsome results. So no 1200 calorie diets they are crap! And you are starving your body! Unless you are around 100 lbs.
