I'll get the bad news out of the way first, my bike was struck with the swine flu today, she will be out of comission for a couple of weeks!! Other than that I had a great time, learned some good lines and can't wait to get back on the track. Thanks ridesmart for a great time! Gary, upload that vid!

Wow! What a day! Level 1 and 2 sold out! Nice little group out there in level 3/4 also. Dude, it was hot as all get out today! Track was super sticky.

It just doesnt get better that a day at TWS with ridesmart. I got there Saturday night at about 7:30 and there were tons of people that camped. Ricky Boddy brought cajun chicken something or other, a big ass Ridesmart cake....SpringR1 was throwing down with a grill and some tbones and sausage. Hell, 1/2 the paddock were full with tents and people fellowshiping. The energy at a RS event is just amazing. What a humble group of people. There are no egos just good times with people that share the same passion.

I saw great improvent from the guys I was working with. It feells good to get that knee down huh?:thumb: I know draggin knee is a result and not necessarily a goal, but lets be honest...we all wanted to drag knee for that first time.

Then we had the jet powered bike. Honestly, I think I could have smoked him on my litre bike.:keke: He just needed more room but the thing sounded cool as shit!:notworthy:

And to the few that went down, a couple of you are my buddies outside of forums, heal up quick. It happens to us all. There is no stopping it if you are trying to get fast. You can ride cautious, not push it and maybe have no incidents. But if you push, you will fall. And there is nothing wrong with pushing....if you dont mind falling.:thumb:

The day went off without a hitch. Good call on the early lunch. The cornerworkers did a fantastic job. Big turnout for the parade laps too.

Truly an extravaganza!!! Thanks Dave and Ha for all the hard work you all do so we can have days like today. I am truly blessed to be associated with you both.:eekspin:

Im beat.

Hmmmm, we got hooked up for a small section today on the track then. Sorry bout the bike, thats a bummer. What happened in turn 4?

Blake Cochran passed me after turn 1, so I thought to myself, hmmmm, lemme try and learn his lines....I tried matching his pace coming into 4, he had a wide line and I followed, next thing I knew, the front end slid out and I lowsided.

Lesson learned, ride your own ride and dont try and keep up with top notch novice racers!! Trying to stay positive about the event and learn from it. What bike were you on?

Im pretty sure we will see Curt on a Motard haha he was having a ball. As for my other buddies sorry you went down Will and Gary. Gary's leg was starting to stiffin up towards the end but he should be fine Im glad I got to share my experience with everybody and glad we all made it home safe. Until next time... I remember seeing the name Cochran on the back of the leathers go past me on the track too:keke:

I was on the mostly white, and blue 08 gsxr 750 with the black and white Gericke leathers. We hooked up through turns 4, 5, 6 and then gravity bowl.

Hope you get it fixed up soon

Brandt, no worries about the lap timer. Glad you got to use it, maybe you neded up likeing it after we got things worked out from my bad teaching? Had a great time bullshiting Sunday and today.

The first guy who crashed in level 4 on the black/green/white bike was about 75-100 ft in front of me. It wasn't the "classic" highside like alot of people are thinking. He ran wide after T11 (T10 to us racers) and his front tire went of the track and hit some soft mud. From my view point as soon as his front tire left the track it tucked immediately throwing him diagonall over the front of his bike to the right. He basically ragdolled and his bike spiral/flipped a couple times and came back onto the track. I had to go between him and his bike. Glad he is okay.

Give me a lil bit and I'll post up all the pics I took from corner 4. Got some pretty good shots. May just do a photobucket album instead of posting 'em here.

Sorry about that crash S.D.W! It was pretty crazy. Ya might check with that professional photographer, not that you want to really remember it, but I think he might have gotten some pics of it.

This was with a simple point and shoot. So don't expect much quality. lol Feel free to steal any you want. The uploads are basically full size of what I have.

Went up to TWS to meet a friend that I took some photos for about a year ago who used my shots to paint on his bike trailer, which I thought was :thumb:

Saw some familiar folks, and snagged some shots of a few while practicing panning in addition to trying not to step through the sunroof of my car lol.

Great day!!!!

I'm not gunna lie, the morning scared me. It looked like it was gunna rain and just keep raining and ruin the day, but... It didn't and it ended up being a beautiful day. The track was still pretty sticky even the the rain washed the rubber off the track the night before, only had 1 issue in the morning session.

Good meeting you matemike.

I had the worst luck out there this weekend. The tires I had on were supposed to be newer but I get out there and I am sliding everywhere on some Metzlers so I had the tire guy check them and they were from mid 06.. ughh! OK, so I get a new set of Pirelli slicks and that takes up my next session.

Next, my wife went to clean my visor and I think she grabbed something with chain wax on it cause it smeared on the visor. I went in the track and put it down and I could not see a thing when I put it down going into the track so I came off and that cost another session to find something to clean it.

Then fatigue from working all month with no days off starts kicking in HARD. My last day off was 2 weeks ago when I went to TWS with LSTD. 3 hrs sleep Sat no sleep Sun night, 12 to 16 hr days and little sleep all month. I was OK beggining of the day but after 1 session was out of it.

I never got up to speed all day . I start telling my friends that I am too beat to go out there again but they convince me to do another session, well, must have been a sign from God cause when I went to open the gas tank, my key broke off in the keyhole and I sat out the last 2.

I was riding in level 3 to make things worse. I did run 1 and a half sessions before the fatigue started to se it and when the guy in front of me crashed out on turn 13 and I found myself fixating and almost following him, something I never do, I realized it was time to bring it in.

Even though a lot of things went wrong, I had a great time out there, and me and my wife got to hang out without the kid for a day so that was a little time off from parenthood.I also ran into an old friedn I knew fron Hoston that I hadnt seen in 10 years and didnt know he rode bikes.

I dont remember the drive home or even getting inside. she said I tripped and fell on my face walking from the driveway and I dont remember.

Next time, I am taking the weekend before the track completely off and sleeping a good 10 hrs each day before.

Nice pictures everyone!

We had fun out there Monday.

Does anyone have the link to RS's professional photographer?

As for me, I had fun chasing friends around the track. After I figured out how not to wash out the front of a steel-framed, soft suspension Katana 600 I was tracking pretty good. Those BT021s continued to step out on me but it was an interesting learning experience.

Yeah, you were right there when it happened, I think I remember doing some flips and rolls, did I meet you? I'll check out the pics when they come out, I wanna see em. I saw myself in one of your photos, thanks :thumb:

Wow!

Im beat.

Thanks bro... I was working corner 10 "The horse shoe”. It was freaking awesome. Couldn’t of asked for better weather. Hopefully next time I'll be on the track.

It was only my second track day, but signed up for level 2 and was draggin knee for the first time out there, and both of them at that! What a cool as hell feeling! I ran off track once in the last session, trying to go faster into the chicane than I knew I should have trying to squeeze one last lap out of our already short session. Ran through some standing water, kept it upright, ran down hot pit and then back out for a couple last laps.

Next time I'm getting one of you guys to follow me in the afternoon! It never seemed to work out with any of the instructors haha. Here's a couple pics of me out there!

Good trackday overall. The only complaint I have is that the intercom calls were sometimes a little frustrating. Calling for lunch really early with no warning made everyone scramble for food, and then making a "call to grid" and THEN having to sit on the grid for 5 minutes waiting on a crash truck sucked.

The reason they called lunch early was because there was a rider down and they rolled medical. Early lunch was a good call, otherwise we would have lost valuable track time. That whole medical deal lasted about 45 minutes. I thought it was quick thinking calling lunch, doing the y2k thing, then right to teh parade laps...then back on the track.

I hate getting to the grid too then someone crashes on the checkered lap.

Do peeps think this is done on purpose? 9 times out of 10 it's people crashing on the checkered flag. Don't ask why, but seems to be the way it happens. I think you should waste 5 minutes every session waiting for the very last bike to come in before making the 5 minute call.:keke:

OJgsxr

Best way is to stay in constant communication with the paddocks. If there is a crash of on the checkered, of course there will be people waiting at pit out but make the announcement as soon as it looks like there might be a delay to getting on the track. This is especially important when it was at hot as it was yesterday. I was sweating horribly at pit out a couple times and made my riding shorter each of those sessions for sure.

Overall a good day though nothing too serious and pretty smooth.

wasn't there but hear about some last minute adjustments they had to make to ensure they did not waste track time for everyone due to a crash.
Sorry to hear that...we are working towards getting this stuff as streamlined as can be, sometimes though it is hard to predict how things will go if people go down. Rest assured, we bring this topic up often and are always looking for ways to get around this issue. Thanks for your input, as these are especially valuable to us. Take care.
If you guys have ideas, pm us and we will surely look at them to see how they can be used.

...no kidding, we see this behavior too and it always amazes me how many people would treat a checkered flag as a "GO NUTS ALL OUT" attitude setter. After they see the checkered they forget about riding and just want to get to that pit in as fast, no matter what the price is....
for me it is just an indicator, nothing more or less, when I see checkered I do not change my riding attitude, just know that at the end of the lap I will pit in, instead of going down the straight.
But you are so right, too many people cause crap like this to happen because of a lapse in mental discipline on their part.

So i went off in turn 1 hauling some booty and ONLY dislocated my pinky finger. I really thought it was broken at first because it looked nasty. I was told not to brake till i seen god. i didn't see him until i was flipping in the air and sliding in the grass. The bike is messed up a good bit as you guys seen the pics on page 3. but it is repairable. started right up this afternoon. Other than that I had a really good time.

Hey Amanda, congrats on Smooth Rider for L2!! As much as I love the white, its the pink tape that really makes the bike....

Ricky - you once again outdid yourself bro. The hats match our new "Factory" shirts perfectly and make us look darn near professional! Sorry about the Y2K damage and please thank the owner for us.

Amanda was awesome, I was working corner 10 and all the other corner workers voted "The cbr with pink tape" as the smoothest rider for that level. Glad to have a name with the bike.:thumb:

:)

thanks, guys. I enjoy my pink too :D

Im hoping one day...It will add horsepower to the bike and lead to my throttle hand! :keke:

we will be running MSRC clockwise, a couple weeks before CMRA runs it clockwise (that is why we have it on the schedule as such). Pretty sure LSTD will run it clockwise too the Friday of the race weekend, so you will have a couple times for practice.

cool, well i'll see you guys on the clockwise date in june than. :hello:

thanks for the info ciaka and brandt. :thumb:

To all the L2 students: You were an absolute blast to work with and having y'all come back to each classroom session makes it all worthwhile. Now you can throw around words like exponential and dichotomy and.... missing link!

I just want to say the whole sunday/monday event was surreal. Awesome, organized, fun. Working with great students and friends, even the instructors can learn from our students we work with. Amanda didn't like TWS, but I think she does now, you just need to let your instructor know why you're uncomfortable and correct any issues, riding lines, or whatever puts your mind at ease and helps you focus. I'm glad I got to work with her. Working together to create that perfect rider in all of us. I really enjoyed riding Y2K bike on oval. First lap, 190mph, second 204mph. What a rush! the thrust turbine put out was unreal! Looking forward to Cresson. Ricky464(Ricky Bobby)

Another great trackday put on by Ridesmart!!!

I really enjoyed camping out @ TWS and I plan to do so in the future if my schedule allows! The rain was coming in sideways when I pulled up! However, I knew the weather was gonna be nice on Monday, which it was, so that was a blessing. The track had a few wet spots/puddles in the A.M. but they dried up rather quickly :thumb: As the day went on, the track started to come in nicely.
Will (SDW) followed me around for a bit and learned some lines since it was his first time @ TWS. After a few laps he got in front of me and was lookin good out there. Hope it helped dood. I had a lot of fun out there riding with you guys! Early lunch was a good call, quick thinking on Ridesmart's part :thumb: I hope for the best for the guy on the R6 who went down and was unresponsive. That sent chills down my spine seeing him laid out on the track like that! The Y2K bike was. . . . wicked. I don't know how else to explain it. Sorry I had to end the 5th session a bit early for y'all when I lowsided. Jimmy, thanks for riding my bike through all the grass and loading it on the crash truck. Also, thank you Dirk and Lee for loading my bike into my truck for me. Also, thanks to Pre-K for unloading my bike at my house! Thanks guys :notworthy: Was good putting a face to so many names! Sorry if I missed anything, I'm no journalist.

The end.

Man, I had a camera on my bike and I didnt urn it on one that one session. I know that I would pay anything to have a video of my crashes.

I went and looked at your bike and was surprised how it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. You sure as hell did tumble end over end.

Wellll I may have gotten lucky, sometimes frame sliders can do more bad than good. Ex. the sliders grab resulting in a catapult  Or they can break motor/frame mounts.
