In 2004 this woman was shot in the face with a shotgun by her husband. Today she revealed her new face after the nations first facial transplant. She may not have the face of a supermodel, but if you look at the before and after pics I think it looks pretty damn good considering.

CLEVELAND -- Five years ago, a shotgun blast left a ghastly hole where the middle of her face had been. Five months ago, she received a new face from a dead woman.

Connie Culp stepped forward Tuesday to show off the results of the nation's first face transplant, and her new look was a far cry from the puckered, noseless sight that made children run away in horror.

Culp's expressions are still a bit wooden, but she can talk, smile, smell and taste her food again. Her speech is at times a little tough to understand. Her face is bloated and squarish, and her skin droops in big folds that doctors plan to pare away as her circulation improves and her nerves grow, animating her new muscles.

But Culp had nothing but praise for those who made her new face possible.

Her face will continue to look better over time as the nerves regrow and circulation improves they will perform more surgery on the face and eventually I suspect it will look pretty normal.

I think what really pisses me off about this story is that her husband is serving a 5 year prison term, 5 measly years for blowing his wifes face off with a shotgun, really? I say fck it, let him out of prison now, but on the way out the door someone needs to fire a shotgun in his face. :angry7:
