6. Do I need a driver's license to take the BRC?
If you are 18+ years of age, you do not need a driver's license. If you are under 18, you must have (and bring with you) a learner's permit or driver's license.
Now, as far as when you get to DPS, you should be able to just get your motorcycle license.

Sounded like a dumb question according to the responses. When I lived in California you could get a Class "M" license.

I had a 'Class M' license BEFORE I was old enough to legally have a license to drive a car.

According to 5 DPS offices. You need to take the computer test for a Motorcycle, and the Class C, Show Proof of MSF completion and get your motorcycle license.

Not everyone drives or even wants to drive a car. I have known several people who have never learned to drive; and I've known several people who answer questions with as much tact, or the lack thereof as you did....all I can say is "wow"....

From DPS Motorcycle Safety Unit:
A person may request only a class M license, but they will still be required to take the class C written test since it’s the only one that includes questions on signs and rules of the road.

you can get the M license only. You still have to take the 'rules of the road' test that is the same written test you need for your class C.. you just don't have to drive the car with the instructor.
Different states do different things.
I got my MC license, class M (restricted to a 250 cc or smaller bike) when I was 14 in tennessee... when i turned 15 and went to get my car lerners permit, i had a class CM with restrictions(learners permit for car, up to 550cc restriction for bike).. the restrictions came off at 16 for both car and bike size
