DPS written test

I'm not able to get into the MSF course as early as I'd like to, so I was considering taking the riding test if I can make it into the DPS before the MSF course. I was just wondering what is on the written test and if there's anything I can look over to have an idea of what will be asked.

There is a handbook you can pick up at the DPS that will have all the info you will need for your test.

Go to the DMV - Get the official Motorcycle Handbook (Might be online, I'm not sure) Study it. The questions come from the book, if you learn the book you will pass the written test.

It is more of a pamphlet than a book. Look it over for fifteen minutes and you will pass easily.

def read the handbook!! i failed it the first time. i took MSF and didn't look at the handbook at all, figured i would have it licked. re-took it the next day after reading the handbook and passed it.

read the booklet. goos tips and info. take the MSF if you can even if you do get your M.. It helps and has allot of good info as well.

there are classes all over houston, are they all so full you can't get into 1?

what part of town are you in.......

i see galleria, have you triend spring brand ISD, 713-365-5660, about 10mni from where your at.

The booklet is online. You can take the written test without an appointment. If you pass, they will give a motorcycle license with a restriction that you must have a motorcycle licensed rider within sight. That way you can ride legally with friends without passing the road portion. Then take the class and get the restriction removed.

It was more so scheduling conflicts than availability. I wanted to go 2 weeks ago, but the class I was looking at filled up before I could get in. Since then I've just been too busy to make it out. I'm moving this weekend, and have something planned for the next, so I'm hoping I can get into a class on the 25th.

And yes, even if I get the M endorsement before then, I still fully intend to take the MSF course. Putting both feet down at a stop light and looking both ways is all good and well, but just doing that driving around in parking lots and up and down the city isn't going to teach me everything I should know. I'm just thinking about getting that out of the way just so I can be legal for now...just in case.

My friend you trying to get your M, the test has 17 questions on it if you read over the handbook and you have general knowlege about rideing you should pass the first part with ease. The driving part you need some one there with a car that will foolow you maybe around the block. The are watching to see how you handle the and yourself on it. The true way to learn is to ride with mind learning the bike and how it feels to you becoming friends to each other. Be safe as much as you can:nod:

:keke: that depends on where you take it. My daughter took it out in BFE to avoid the lines... it was still written. And she got to sit in an antique school desk to take it. :rofl:

the riding test is a little weird. You have to provide a person and a car so your friend can drive the instructor around behind you. Thats the non-msf way. I did this, then took the experienced rider course about a month after getting my license.

i passed it 3 times. . .i just got lazy and never did the drivng until recently. never studied, of course i am amazing but still

then when i did take the driving test, the chick go in the truck and pretty much texted the whole time. she told my friend, "if you come to an intersection take a right or a left, pick one" 10 minutes later she looks up from her phone and he is leading me down some trailer park neighborhood and is lost. has no idea where she is. haha pretty funny. oh and it was raining and i had race slicks on. . . . texas city ftw
