To start with, I met a new friend and found an AWESOME shop too!
www.CompetitionMotorcycle.com in pearland. Jeremy is a super nice, super HD smart and just an all around way helpful guy, and on top of all of that, they have a fantastic selection of anything and everything, rice to HD. Some wicked race bikes and a dyno set up. The whole staff was more than friendly and just a cool place and I'll be back.

on to the dyno day report:

Blah, poor design of the charge pipe made for a wasted trip:BangHead: . Under boost, I leaked like a seive at the charge pipe and intake connection. :keke:
Anyways, it sucked cause they were folks all gawking and expecting umpteen bazillion hp and it didn't even crest 80:keke: . I am thinking in a repaired state, after what I saw, I should be able to do my 100/100 goal.
Boost guage was fluttering like a butterfly and the HP was a measley 78.blah :-) Anyways, making 5 hp over stock and blowing enough boost out of a 1" wide spot to totally remove the paint on the charge pipe! Wowzas! So, today, I am going to duplicate all of the below pieces into a one piece charge pipe /Y pipe assembly. Then back to the dyno on Tuesday hopefully. Ends up the fab work isn't done and this is the joy of R&D work (note: sarcasm). Screaming Eagle makes an intake for carb mounting that has a flange, I could wait for one of those to come in and make a flange for the charge pipe to fit, or make a one piece and ride today. I think I'll get busy.

note the missing paint from the boost washout. blowing some serious leakage there.

I also noted that when the air cleaner was off, at WOT, I had some reversion issues, so I think I'll reduce the exhaust downpipe diameter from 2.5/3" to 2.25 then 2.5 bottom pipe. That should give more velocity and a scavenge effect to the exhaust. Hopefully cancelling out the reversion and also increasing the torque too. Trial and error testing:hello:

Yea great people at the shop, thats who I called for looking for some help and dyno time. Sorry to hear you didn't get to do a serious pull, but I'm sure you'll get that resolved in a short matter of time.

sorry to hear bout that. hope all goes well w/the new one.

But hey, at least you're getting all of the R&D out of the way for mine..... :)

I'm gonna ride it again today and should be on the dyno on tuesday if all goes correct. I am hoping it will all get ironed out and actually make some decent power. I would be happy with 100/100, I am at 80HP because of the massive boost leak and it hauls bawls, I sure am gonna like 100 with this HD gearing and torque.

As far as the reversion issues which were slight, that is due to overlap of the cams and the exhaust work won't help it. I also need to order the new filter K&N 3x5 angled.

Are you going to manufacture some kind of sheild or cover for the turbo? I was just curious if you ever thought about cleaning up the look.

I'm riding today again folks! whar' ya be?

As far as the power goes, I am not sure what I'll get today, I do know it flat hauls balls. Its reliable enough for me to let my friend take a ride on it and he loved it!, Of course he rides a slow big twin. His comments were that it pulls smooth and hard at the same time and had to shut it down at 90 in third and had a lot left to twist.

my dad has a sportster and the first time i rode it i was really suprised. yeah it might not have the speed of a sportbike but i love how you can feel the power.

seems weird to me, the harley crowd spends big money to get 100 HP, and thats with a heavier bike also. the sportbike guy can go and buy 150hp with full warranty and thats 200# lighter.
My bike with the power it has, prolly 90 or so, seems like a freaking rocket ship to me! I would love to feel the rush of a 150HP:eek3:

That's what I was thinking, my RC makes what 120HP? the Busa 150+? and I think even the Busa is lighter than an HD.

vtwins just simply can not make the reliable power that an injected inline 4 can.

yeah my bike is lighter, cheaper, faster, quiter, smoother.

when i first got on the sportster i was expecting something really slow and sluggish compared to my bike but i was pleasantly suprised. although it has less HP i loved the feel of the raw power i guess it pretty much has to do with torque

I thought Ducati had some fast V-twins?

I love my simple air-cooled V-twin. Not too much that can go wrong. I haven't done very much mods, but my bike is very reliable. I plan on having it forever! They say these bikes will run like new if regular maintenance is done.

We'll my ZX12 pulled at 182 RWHP on Jan 18th when we did a base line pull before we started all the work you see below in my signature. It is going back together now and I will be on the dyno again in the next 2 weeks. I will share the results. I imagine in the 250-270 range. HELLLLLLZZZZZZ YEA!

okay, tomorrow then?
supposed to be cold and rainy tomorrow too.
I ride everyday the weather is nice. Monday, I'll have to start back to work again monday through friday, been goofing off for a few weeks.
Good thing is I wont be travelling anymore, so I can actually have a life and enjoy my weekends and evenings. Plenty of time to ride.
I want to get back on the dyno and tune some more, I installed my new ignition yesterday and set up some guesstimate levels to start the timing retard and dropped it 20 degrees at WOT. Before the weather got bad, I went out and did some pulls, it seems like its running stronger now, I dunno.
Its able to do a real smoky burnouts with ease, lots of torque, even starting in second gear makes for lots of tire smoke and sideways action. Was fun, Whats cool, is I dont even have to rev past 4 - 5 k, it pulls like a mule on crack down low and it was fun to rip through a few gears short shifting .:hello:
