I can't wait. I'm looking forward to this season and, hopefully, to see Lewis Hamiliton get squashed. There has been a lot of stories about the McClaren being off the pace. And, Brawn is supposed to be quite fast. It will be interesting to see what happens in quali and the race.

I hear one of the Williams will be running KERS and the other will not. That should be interesting. And ferrari is apparently competitive.

But... when the green flag drops, the bs stops.

my dvr was already set since last october. lol. nico rosberg to make a huge upset. fernando alonso to be in the top 3 this year. brawn gp will be up front alot. they have had consistently good cars during testing beating out mclaren and ferrari. should be interesting this year since the old rule book has been basically rewritten and a championship going the the driver who has consistently won more races not who has finished the most races. hamilton got really lucky last year no thanks to timo glock, two turns left and he just stops handing the win to hamilton. also im really looking forward to how well F1's newest driver sebastian buemi will drive. what i like about this year is that everyone will be in all new platforms which levels the playing field a little more. whos your champion for 2009?

I am very interested in F1 this year. I am finding the rewriting of the rulebook (again) compelling. What do you think the "biggies" will do considering the design loopholes some have taken advantage?

philly fresh
03-27-2009, 10:29 PM
nothing, they cant thats why they are called loop holes. they didnt show up to the meeting and didnt leave brainwashed. thats why they found the loophole. teams are complaining because they didnt think of it. but....... dont put it past the teams that are complaining to already have a diffuser to bolt up if nothing happens. man this year is gonna be a blast. then 2010 will bring us a U.S. team to go against the rest of the world in F1. i will be in brazil in october watching at interlagos. wooo hooo. and if you guys have seen my r6 you know im a ferrari fan. scuderia ferrari #1 baby

tiatool
03-27-2009, 10:46 PM
Well it looks like nothing is going to happen, so bolt up those diffusers. I found the whole controversy interesting at least.

philly fresh
03-27-2009, 10:48 PM
this just in.... diffusers just deemed LEGAL. It's nice to see F1 get back to how it used to be with innovation and clever design

how many races you think till all teams are running a diffuser.

tiatool
03-27-2009, 10:53 PM
3. It is going to take some time for some of the teams to do the aerodynamic testing to dial it in. Although you may be right that SOME of the teams have a diffuser ready.

The question should be, how much do you think that little appendage is going to cost those teams. I'll bet 2mil. LOL!

1.25.8 damn trulli is fast

philly fresh
03-27-2009, 10:56 PM
well they all have a 100 mil cap for the whole year. that includes salary for the drivers too. not sure if its 2 mil but its probably more than we will ever make in 20yrs of working

Do you know anything about the tire regulations? I heard Bridgestone was changing the compounds. Wondering how many sets they get per race and if it is capped for each day or over the weekend? Do they get qualifiers?

philly fresh
03-27-2009, 11:05 PM
they get qualifiers and they have a cap for the weekend. have to use one pair of the two pairs on race day. and the componds are now not super soft and soft. the gap between the two is bigger. they have a super soft (green band) and mediums. they all started on super softs for qualifying to see how they held up on similar conditions as race day since it will be roughly the same time on sunday.

25) SUPPLY OF TYRES IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TYRE LIMITATION DURING THE EVENT
25.1 Supply of tyres :
A tyre manufacturer will be chosen by the FIA for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons following an invitation for tenders to supply tyres to all the cars entered in Championship Events for the duration of these seasons.
The appointed tyre supplier must undertake to provide :
- two specifications of dry-weather tyre at each Event, each of which must be of one homogenous compound and visibly distinguishable from one another when a car is on the track ;
- one specification of intermediate tyre at each Event which must be of one homogenous compound ;
- one specification of wet-weather tyre at each Event which must be of one homogenous compound ;
25.2 Quantity of tyres :
During the Event no driver may use more than fourteen sets of dry-weather tyres, four sets of intermediate tyres and three sets of wet-weather tyres.
No driver may use more than two sets of each specification of dry-weather tyre during P1 and P2.
A set of tyres will be deemed to comprise two front and two rear tyres all of which must be of the same specification.
25.3 Control of tyres :
a) The outer sidewall of all tyres which are to be used at an Event must be marked with a unique identification.
b) Other than in cases of force majeure (accepted as such by the stewards of the meeting), all tyres intended for use at an Event must be presented to the FIA technical delegate for allocation prior to the end of initial scrutineering.
c) At any time during an Event, and at his absolute discretion, the FIA technical delegate may select alternative dry-weather tyres to be used by any team or driver from among the stock of tyres the appointed supplier has present at the Event.
d) A competitor wishing to replace one unused tyre by another identical unused one must present both tyres to the FIA technical delegate.
e) The use of tyres without appropriate identification may result in a grid position penalty or exclusion from the race.
f) The only permitted type of tyre heating devices are blankets which use resistive heating elements.
25.4 Use of tyres :
a) Each nominated driver will be allocated four sets of dry-weather tyres, two of each specification, for use during P1 and P2. These are the only dry-weather tyres which may be used during these sessions and must be returned to the tyre supplier before the start of P3.
If an additional driver is used (see Article 19.1(b) he must use the tyres allocated to the nominated driver he replaced.
b) Each nominated driver will be allocated ten further sets of dry-weather tyres, five of each specification, for use during the remainder of the Event. However, one set of each specification must be returned to the tyre supplier before the start of the qualifying practice session and may not be used during the remainder of the Event.
c) Prior to the start of the qualifying practice session intermediate and wet-weather tyres may only be used after the track has been declared wet by the race director, following which intermediate, wet or dry-weather tyres may be used for the remainder of the session.
d) Unless he has used intermediate or wet-weather tyres during the race, each driver must use at least one set of each specification of dry-weather tyres during the race.
e) If the race is started behind the safety car because of heavy rain (see Article 40.15) the use of wetweather tyres until the safety car returns to the pits is compulsory

Hamilton is such a whiner. Good to see him in the back. The real story is Vettel. Without the infamous diffuser, still managed third in qualifying. Adrian Newey is an aerodynamics god. Good to see some of the powerhouses from ferrari's schumacher years moving on and finding success. Todt is apparently being positioned for Max's job. Where is Rory Berne?

Go Brawn/VIRGIN Mercedes!!! Woo hoo.
fixed

i agree with you on hamilton. hes just a little kid. i hope he gets his ass smoked to prove to him that hes not gonna have the title handed to him. what i think is funny is that last year after he won in brazil he signed for 4yrs/138 mil with mclaren/mercedes and now is doing poorly and i think he will continue this all season. making his sponser rethink his contract. is he a good driver.. yes. but so is every other driver on the field. i would have picked up rosberg or bourdais.

HOOOOLLLYYY SHIT. ferrari and mclaren have thier work cut out for them. buemi did really good and kubica pissed everything away. obviously faster but had to make that pass stick. props to vettel for having humility and accepting blame for something he couldnt avoid. still would like to know what happened to massa's car. man this season is gonna be a blast to watch. way to go BrawnGP.

maxgs
03-29-2009, 10:16 PM
It was a very good race. I think the new rules package has led to better passing. I don't recall cars running together so closely for quite a few years. Some great, great racing. Brawn did a bang up job. The man is a genius. Imagine if they had hyper talented drivers. Barichello ought to be thanking Kubica for his asinine pass on Vettel. Where, exactly, did he expect Vettel to go? And how did he expect Vettel to stay on a tight line when his tires were obviously degraded. Stupid. He had three more laps to make a pass in a reasonable location.

BTW, pretty boy finished 4th. That's enough to make me sick. But you must admit that Hamilton passes better than any other driver in the series.

maxgs
03-29-2009, 10:19 PM
And when is Renault going to fire Piquet? He completely sucks ass. Flavio needs to replace him with Sato. Recall Flavio fired Truli mid-season for losing a position on the last corner of a race to either massa or barrichello

philly fresh
03-29-2009, 10:27 PM
asisnie is a great word to describe that pass. and how the hell did they expect to go into the next turn with no front down force. love the airel view with kubic smashing into the wall. he still did a bad ass job being heavy and not running kers. they wont fire him becuase of his fathers racing career. retired 9 of 18 races last season. piss poor i coud do better and id do it for free. and yes hamilton is a passing genius. ive watched him race karts when he was way younger. he scary fast in the wet. he and massa are excellent wet drivers. they had hamilton on top gear and he did almost as good as thier resident driver on a dry track but he did it in the pouring rain. the mercedes engines are strong. he wont be top 3 this year.
