I personally want to thank Ridesmart for giving me the opportunity to be an instructor for the day! I had a blast! i helped the best i knew how and helped most get faster throughout the day. Thanks again for that great opportunity:notworthy:

thanks ridesmart for having us out, i had a blast.
to be honest i didn't like the track all morning and i wished i was at TWS instead, but seeing as how it's a more technical track, it took me a little longer to get comfortable with my lines and carrying more speed through most of the corners. after about 3 sessions on my own i gained a little more confidence and really started enjoying the track.
why do i always start having the most fun after i start getting tired!!! :banghead:
great to see everyone again that i knew, and also great meeting a lot of folks for the first time!
THANKS ROJA FOR PICKING ME UP AND BRINGING MY BIKE HOME! You're my hero for the month of March! :thumb: I hope ya like the tracks down here in Texas!

Had a great time today. It was more fun than I had imagined.
Who won the smoothest rider for level 2? Didn't they get a free 11X15 pic of themselves at the track?
Well, I started my first trackday in level 2 due to peer suggestion and I am glad I did.
I had an instructor pull me aside and tell me that I was going to fast and should move up to level 4?!?!?! On my first trackday?!?!

Huge turnout! Great people, great fun and a well organized event. I enjoyed working with the level 1 riders and I hope that I was able to help you all by offering what little I know. So many people have helped me along the way, I am obligated to share what I have been taught.
Big showing from Motohouston! Way to go! Dave informed me that we had over 400 in attendence between spectators and riders.:notworthy:
Graeme (sp) was the individual life flighted. I am not sure of his screen name here, he is an austraillian guy that frequents all the organizations. My understanding is that he and another bike touched and somehow his femur was broken in the process. Neither of the two fell. The medics and ridesmart staff did a great job handling the situation and 30 additional minutes were added to the day. Thanks MSRH for that.:thumb:
Thanks Gonzo for allowing me to give chase, although I failed.:keke: Between friday and saturday I managed a new personal best...by 3 seconds.:eek3: Gixxah Powah!
Just a damn good time. The event sold out and was a huge success.:eekspin:
Prayers for a speedy recovery, Graeme.

Graeme's screen name = GZX6R
Good thoughts for a speedy recovery. Sorry you had an incident man.
For those of you who don't know him, he is one of the nicest people around. He always has a BIG smile on his face, and is a regular at PP1 and all trackdays no matter what organization.
Get well soon!

Um dude, i dont know how to tell you this but that wasnt meant in a good way. Since you didnt attened any class room sesiions that were offered from what i saw (which was alot of folks in level 2 consdidering it was said to be 45 folks), the instructors actually said in class.........."there are folks out there that should be in level four not just b/c they are going fast but b/c they were doing it off line and out of control regardless of skill level."
That said, you and your bike were exculsively singled out as the " R1 with carbon exhaust and the rented leathers" by session 3 that was complained about by a couple riders (per the instructors story) passing on the inside and by another instructor saying you came under him not once, but twice.
Now, ill eat shit if that wasnt you and thats fine, but it looked just like your avatar and the only bike i saw just like that with the rented leathers.
Sidenote, im slow as $hit and im not at all pleased about that. My head is full of bad thoughts i guess.

AHHHH, so you musy have been one of the people who was crying because they couldn't keep up with me. It was my first trackday ever, my lines may have been rough at first but Everyone's lines were off.
So many people would hang out on the outsde on straights so how would I pass??? let lthem lowside then take me out too????For the record, I saw several guys pass on the inside during level 2.
Also, I tried finding the class after each session but I could never locate it. Before the last session, the instructor pulled me aside and said I wasn't suppsoed to pass on the inside on level 2, I had complaints...:keke::rofl::crying:
I apologized and said it won't happen again. I again tried finding the class but coudn't find them/
Last session of the day....I PUT THE SMOKE DOWN ON EVERYBODY. I was lapping folks, I didn't pass one person on the inside, just as instructed. Now what little man? Don't be upset because my first trackday was an all out success.
Don't take out how you rode on me. I had several people come up to me and congratulate my skills, especially for a first timer. Try and rain on someone else's parade.
The instructor did say my skills were too advanced for level 2, rookie

Will, with all due respect, settle down bro. Or start another thread for yalls feud.
I didnt get a chance to ride with you or I could give you some unbiased feedback.
You have alot to learn, we all do. Let's try to stay humble and teachable. Otherwise, I can assure you that you will hit a wall (figuratively speaking) and not be able to improve further.
There is no doubt that you are capable. Not all people ride track to be fast or get fast. Many ride to improve skills and just to plain have fun. So, not everyone in level 1, 2, 3 or 4 is trying to be a racer. Passing people proves nothing. Until you get to level 4/open practice at any org, and get out there with some racers.
I am disappointed that you did not attend class. Dirk Anderson, IMO, holds BY FAR, the best level 2 class of anywhere I have attended. You missed a great deal by not attending. At the riders meeting it was annouced where the class room was. If you did not know there were probably 20 instructors there that you could have asked. They were the guys in the flourescent orange jackets, in case you did not know that, either. :keke:
No doubt that you are well on your way. How about a little humilty?

that's why i passed you on my R6s:keke: i was helping instruct level 2 and i had you follow me cause your lines were way the hell off!!! you can def, point and shoot and R1 don't get me wrong. And they are fast bikes! But if you actually would take a step down off of your "i'm full of myself box" for a just a second you have the talent and drive to be an GREAT rider! now i'm not harping on you or trying to call you out in any way because you do have skills. Just the type of riding you were doing would recommend moving up one class to level 3 with ridesmart and have a little more aggressive session.

i felt the same way about the classes, didn't know were to meet and it seemed unorganized.
i rode one of the last sessions with will and saw that he was ridin his a$$ off. we talked after he was instructed not to pass on the inside and he didn't do it after bein told not to. we were agreein that the instructors needed to be more organized and more attentive to all the riders on the track. if will did somethin wrong, it's cuz he didn't know any better :banghead::banghead:, not because he's out there to cuz mayhem. if he was instructed earlier about rack ettiquete (sp) he wouldn't of passed like he did. plain and simple.

He was very proud of you! He and I got to talking because I saw a rider take several bad lines into 16. I said to a friend "I bet you anything that the rider will run off next lap" sure enough the rider did! You were right behind that rider and he thought I was talking about you! He asked how I knew the guy was gonna go off! I explained to him and then we watched you come through the next lap! You were looking VERY smooth through 16-17. Glad you got right back out there! Once a get off "gets in your head" it is harder to get back out there so you did the right thing!:thumb:

^^hey it was good to see you and bubby out there. bike started running fine after i ran off and stole some of 1slocbrs gas. i'm going to do the seafoam stuff again and then change the plugs.. hopefully that does the trick
You were doing awesome! I loved how some of the "faster" bikes would pass you on pit straight and the hold you up in 16-17 and you pass them right back coming out of 16! You had that 650 moving!

Once you talk to me, you will see what kind of person I am, this "posting" does me no justice
How much of a difference in talking to you on the net and in person? Seems that you are very arrogants with your riding ability. People dislike you before they even meet you, that's no way to make friends but then again according to you don't give a fook what people thinks about you.
i felt the same way about the classes, didn't know were to meet and it seemed unorganized.
i rode one of the last sessions with will and saw that he was ridin his a$$ off. we talked after he was instructed not to pass on the inside and he didn't do it after bein told not to. we were agreein that the instructors needed to be more organized and more attentive to all the riders on the track. if will did somethin wrong, it's cuz he didn't know any better :banghead::banghead:, not because he's out there to cuz mayhem. if he was instructed earlier about rack ettiquete (sp) he wouldn't of passed like he did. plain and simple.
yes, i was. and ya, that was minime (my lil bro) u were talkin to. after i went down my head was spinning out of control so i laid down for half an hour. i had thoughts runnin through my head 100 mph. it was pretty weird. the fall knocked the s#!t out of me :keke: i got back on the horse after resting. my bike was ridable and i gathered my nerves back up
Y'all should attends riders' meeting. It is announced every trackday by every organizations. Were there instructors to ask if you didn't know where the classrooms are at?

i did attend riders meeting and i did attend the first class. i didn't attend any other classes for a few reasons. 1. i didn't know where or when to meet after the session. the instructor never told me this info. 2. when i went down i was pissed that the only person to help me get myself and bike off the track was some guy that was ridin the go carts. he saw me and ran right over to me. i didn't get help or assistance from anyone else. no instructor and i looked up at the corner worker and didn't even see a flag. in the first meeting i remember an instructor say " if u guys see ur friend go down, don't pull over to help, that's what we're here for. we'll pull over and help the rider , u guys keep riding and have fun."

Jason you need to bring that to dave wonders attention about the corner worker not paying attention. i heard something about that and it is unacceptable... someone from the gocart track having to come over and help all while the cw is dozing off or looking the other way lol. i do a lot of corner work and take it very serious. dave would love to hear your comments and concerns i'm sure
when i got back to the pit that's the first thing i tried to do. i found one instructor (gentleman with the puppy dog ears on his helmet) and asked him where i could find dave. he explained to me that someone just broke their leg on the track and his accident has a little more magnitude. i totally understand that. his accident was more serious. no prob. the instructor then asked me my name and i told him. he said he'll take care of it. i cussed out of adrenaline to the instructor and then apologized. i realized i needed to calm down and lay down. he was extremely nice and didn't deserve my attitude. shook his hand and went back to my pit area.

Corner workers throws the flag if you are in the the middle of the track and not moving but if you are off roading crash, and they see that you are up and walking around, you will have to wait til the session is over for help to come. I got 100 mph highsided at tws and I pushed my bike out of the way and gotta wait til the session is over for the crash truck to come out.

i tried to find him only for a little while. i was dazed and confused after the fall. i spoke with dave before sat and in the morning of sat. dave is a stand up guy and showed me great hospitality. i appreciate that :notworthy:
but after i rested and got back up i didn't want my spill and feeling of not bein helped to ruin the rest of my day. i then finished my day ridin with friends and askin them for help to show me some lines and explain the track.

So if you are able to move but can not pick your bike up you just stand there? And the corner worker is not to put up a flag? And no one will come help til that session is over with?

As long as you're able to removed yourself out of harms way, you will stay there til the session is over. The corner worker should put up a flag if someone wrecks in their corner and radio it in. Sometimes a run offs and drops is not considered a flag issues. Most of us should know what a crash looks like and make a call to throw the flag or not. There are times that the corner didn't see the crash because they were too busy taking pics for their friends, THAT'S A NO NO IN CORNER WORKING, but people do it all the times. If there were two or more working in the same corner, it MAY NOT be an issues but the more eyes on the track the better.:thumb:

I don't think anyone was trying to rain on your parade. You have to remember just b/c you got out there and was comfortable passing people and going fast does'nt mean everyone else is. You might have been in controlof your bike, but the people you were passing may have not been comfortable with that. A trackday is not a race. Level 2 is not for people who are out there flying around and passing people. I am not attacking you either. I think what everyone is saying is be humble in your greatness and have respect for everyone else on the track. they all paid there fees to be in level 2 and not be passed by some dude on an R1 at his first trackday that is better than them. Next time sign up for level 3 or intermiediate (depending on ORG) and then have an instructor follow you around if you want to be in level 4 or advacned. Congrats on your speed, but your lines are very important. the faster guys expect you to hold your line or else you both will go down.
Just think about a pitcher who can throw a 100 mph fastball, means nothing if he can't control where it's going!
Again congrats out there buddy!

Furthermore, i didnt even know who the **** you were or that you even existed on that track so take your bragging and shove it up your ass, im not gonna let you bad mouth me for giving you the heads up that OTHERS, not me, were watching you.
That said, i didnt even see you until we were on the grid FOREVER in i believe the 5th session when the guy was off the track last lap in level 4. Saw you next to your bike and thought "ahh, so thats the dude." Thought nothing more of it past that. Just one of those glancing thoughts while your out there waiting to go on track.
Last and most importantly, im going to remember you got bent out of shape over this and in the fact i merely relayed it on to you, and then you went defensive and started name calling me. That said, if at anytime i see you at a trackday again this year ill come introduce myself to you as the "little man" or "the rookie" or "the parade rainer" , with a very straight face, and see if you are as nice in person as you claim or just a dick on the internet.

man what a great track day.:thumb: To dang windy though. Kept fighting the winds on the back straights and having to baby the throttle to keep the wheel down over the bumps. Hit the bumps and the wheel goes up and then the wind would push me around. Anyway it was fun for my first track day back this season. We lost another pop up tent from the wind to. Alonzo is faster then ever seems like. Love seeing him slide the bike around and try I say try to stay with him when he passes. I was 5 sec off my old pace from last year and finished 3 sec slower then my average pass last year. Not to bad for getting used to new stiff leathers, rear shock and different gearing on my bike. I'm in no hurry though. Just having fun! Really love the new rear shock after I dialed it in better by the evening time. Can't wait till next time. I need some more practice for sure. Great riding with all you guys in level 4. Hopefully I'll pick my speed up some more. Oh BTW John the BT-003's were rocking for me out there and thanks for MU getting my ohlins shock installed and setup for me in time for the track day.

i was having a great time up until i crashed. went in way too hot into the carousel. i braked like i thought i should but the bike just never slowed and i ended up on my back in the grass. my shoulder is a little sore but i'm fine and should be ready for the next trackday. left rearset was broken but that's an easy fix. live and you learn...
you couldnt stop because of the brake fluid gushing out of your line instead of sending pressure to the caliper. it looked to me as if the copper washers were never put on the banjo bolts. i bet thats why your rotors were bluing too.

Anyone know what kinda lap times he was running? I timed him for a few laps in one session and he was running 1:43-1:45, but it looked like he was getting held up a lot. what's ty's lap record?... 1:37? 1:38 something?

SDW, i saw you out there, you pulled on me on the straights, you do have some areas to improve but everyone does. You were moving, especially for first trackday. I moved from level 2 to level 4 at the end of the day and I can honestly say you may get yourself in trouble in 4 if you dont smooth your lines up. I got passed by a few guys in 4, didnt take it to heart, just held my lines and rode my pace, if they needed around me then I was completely confident those guys know how to do it in the safest way possible.
I understand you felt attacked and kinda came out swinging, I talked to you while waiting in the grid for the ambulance to come back in after the ktm wind getoff...you seem pretty chill, but understand that this site is ur first impression to alot of people, im not going to get into the argument of who is right and who is wrong bc its a rediculous argument anyways. Work on your lines, attend some classes and get some instruction, I promise you will learn alot more than you think. You can only get better, and you have a really good start.
BUT, because it seems like I have to say some sort of assholey or smartass statement in my post to fit in with the the recent history of this thread...

those lap times seem about right...but what's even more amazing is that they are consistent (when not held up too bad) it's not like they run a 1:38, then 1:44, then 1:39, then 1:42, then 1:37, then 1:44...it's pretty much the same across the board.

oh and if you haven't checked out the kart track at msr-H, you should! It was $30 for a 15-min session (it ended up being close to 30min...they weren't too strict on how long you were out there). It was the most fun I've had in a while....me and my dad were out there dicing it up for a good 30 min. It was the next best thing to riding a bike on the track...can't wait to try their shifter karts!
not trying to plug them or anything, but if you're out at msr-h for a td and not riding, go check it out! It was f'n awesome!

You never lapped me fugger:hello:dude you were cookin out there. you should have started the day in level 4. it didnt even click who you were till we got back to the paddock, too many blue r6s lol. i think you should start kickin it in level 4 from now on. youll get faster chasing the ones that are faster than you. hell i remember when rick was level 2 and that fools almost as fast as me now.

who was in level 4 on the red and white GSXR with red and white gear? That mofo was Railin!!!! Super smooth lines and noticeably faster than the rest. Kudos to whoever you are.
Yep! That would be Alonzo! And he is THE MAN!!! But I am bias! He is the one who taught me how to ride track! :notworthy:

oh and if you haven't checked out the kart track at msr-H, you should!
It was f'n awesome!i kept catching whifs of the 2 stroke comin off the shifters. reminded me of the motox days.

dr. gonzo (alonzo). he's a man among boys.
Anyone know what kinda lap times he was running? I timed him for a few laps in one session and he was running 1:43-1:45, but it looked like he was getting held up a lot. what's ty's lap record?... 1:37? 1:38 something?
anyways, had fun out there watching and getting new tires on the sv, but it sucked being there and not riding (should be out there on the 21st or 29th). See ya'll out there!
his fastest time of the day was a 43.XX from what i remember him telling me, he was movin, even with traffic

Thank you for all the compliments...I had fun yesterday! I'm trying to put in as much practice time as I can in preperation for a full season, there are some really fast guys in the CMRA. I'm sure I'll be getting my ass handed to me throught the season but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
I've been fortunate enough to ride with some fast guys who have helped me progress, guys like Buck Beasly, Alan(Mr. Whoppie), Larry(launchpad199), Tony(houseofpain), Dustin(dustinJ), Derek Steptoe, Jason(riddler), along with many more. These guys have kept me on my toes and working with them has allowed me to become a better rider. One thing you'll quickly find out is how helpful trackday people and racers are, always willing to lend a helping hand.
I got a chance to meet alot of new folks as well as see some familiar faces...good times!

you couldnt stop because of the brake fluid gushing out of your line instead of sending pressure to the caliper. it looked to me as if the copper washers were never put on the banjo bolts. i bet thats why your rotors were bluing too.
nope. all 3 copper washers are there. the banjo bolt is hitting the steering damper fork clamp. i think the vibration between the 2 caused it to back out just a tad ,hence the leak. however, before i crashed i did have pressure. the bike was definitely slowing but just didn't slow enough. whatever the case, i was going in too hot and should have been braking way sooner- my fault.

I started the day in Level 2 and the only thing I found wrong with it was that it was very crowded. I understand that for the price that RS charges for their days they need to have more riders in each group to make ends meat but it was still overly packed (45 riders in level 2 from what I heard). I only had 1 close incident when coming around T17/16, someone tried to get on the track right as I was coming around that turn and I would have hit them had I not specifically looked for someone doing exactly that. It was never addressed in the riders meeting from what I remember (merging rules) but that was the only close call for me so no biggie.
Once I moved up to level 4 it was great. Plenty of track and lots of good experienced riders who held their lines and passed well.

Stainless steel lines, ebc pro pads, a slip on, and I finally installed a penske shock in the rear. Everything else was left alone, I'm hoping to get some work done to the front end here pretty soon, followed by a bazzaz kit with some dyno tuning. It's amazing how well the factory front end works after dialing it in...

That's all I was trying to get at. The thread was originally intended for a follow up and I was just giving my impressions. Level 4 was great though, and now that I am finally fast enough to run in there I have no reservations with riding with ridesmart. They are great for beginners (lots of instruction) and advanced (track isn't packed) but kinda neglect intermediate riders as far as packing the grid. I think all organizations do, unfortunately, because there is such a wide variation on what people consider intermediate and the bulk of your riders are at that experience level makes it near impossible to cater to everyone. I don't have a solution so I can't complain too much.

I WAS LAID OUT ON THE TRACK. i had to get up to get out of the way. the guy from the go carts picked my bike up off the track and walked it over. i didn't slide off the track.
I think the only reason it wasn't adressed on track sooner is because of where you went down.
I was 4 or 5 bikes behind you when it happened (i think it was you)... when the bike came to rest of was off line and by the time I came through you were standing up so it didn't appear as though you were injured.
I was riding not working this event so i can't speak first hand for this weekend, but in previous events, the corner workers have been instructed to stay at their post on matter what to make sure other riders are alerted of the potential hazard ahead. Usually if the bike is off line (as yours was well clear of) and the rider doesn't appear to be hurt)which you didnt seem to be), it can usually wait til the end of the session

I'm all for playing nice...
Not sure when I'll get back to that area next... its a bit of a drive for me.... especially with 5 other tracks closer to me. Cresson, Hallet, Eagles Canyon, TWS and Oak Hill... but it was a fun day once I got my mechanical gremlins sorted out. I missed half the day and only ran 3 sessions. Well.... two and a half if you don't count the time spent seeing if my shifter was going to work.
As far as everyone saying they didn't know where the class was for level 2... you must not have been paying attention during the riders meeting when they gave clear directions and then walked right to the class... with the exception of the one class held in the pits for the body position drills, it was in the same room all day.
Side note... BIG :thumb: to Neal at Goe Kawasaki who took a part off of a new '09 floor model to get be back going again... Stand up guy who definitely went above and beyond to help out...

I think you're missing the point of a track day as did MANY that rode Saturday. I think that's what can be attributed to the unusually high number of wrecks. Its not a race! You're there to learn

it was sticking and holding just fine... if only the brakes would have held a little better.
you had passed me going into keyhole and i was on you... planned to pass you back in the same place... but at the end of pit straight my brakie no workie... I was planning on late braking and getting right up on ya through suger and spice... kinda of a pucker moment when the lever went straight to the bar.
thought it best to just sit back and pit out at the end of the lap... i like my bike without scratches

Usually if the bike is off line (as yours was well clear of) and the rider doesn't appear to be hurt)which you didnt seem to be), it can usually wait til the end of the session
i got up as soon as i could cuz i realized i was on the track. i wasn't about to lay there and wait to get ran over. and as soon as i made it to the grass i had to lay down. i wasn't expecting a corner worker to come to my aid, i however was expecting an instructor to give me a hand. they didn't. and as i remember from corner workin, when a rider goes down on the track along with his/her bike a corner worker is supposed to throw the red flag. that also didn't happen. now if u think about how long i was laid out on the track it was obviously long enough for a guy in the go kart area to run over to diamond's edge to help me up and pull my bike off the track. this morning i recieved an apology pm from an instructor whom saw me and didn't pull over to help. he explained a little bit of confusion of instructions from other instructors. i also recieved a pm from a corner worker who was also a little bit confused on what to do.

An instructor should have pulled over. They didn't. And I have no idea why not.
You could always look at the bright side, at least you didnt have to buy the leathers! Or even pay rental for that matter, I think.
Sorry about your get off homie. Holler at me the next time you come out.:thumb:

Hey I know how to fix those shisty brakes on you 10R. Brembo Master cylinder and 1000RR, ZX6R, or ZX14 front calipers. I ride an 07 also and I put the Brembo M/C, steel lines and 1000RR calipers from ebay and some bad a$$ pads and things stops on a dime all day. If you go to ZX10R.net someone has that stuff up for sale all the time there. The brake set up was the best mod i did to my 10R. Hit me up if you need some help.
and I know what you mean by squeezing on some brake and pull it all the way back to the grips not cool!!!!!!!!!

Thanks... You're too kind.. i was having an off day and felt slower than stink off shit
I was planning to be at ECR on 4-11, but I was reminded that that's Easter weekend so I've got family obligations.
I'm honestly not sure what even I'll make it out to next. I only made it to a couple last year and with a 2month old at home, I'm lucky to get a kitchen pass to do anything with the bike lately. I told the wife I'd like to do one a month this season and she didn't seem to have a problem with that so I guess I'll just have to see what I can put together. New brakes on the 10 are the first step though so I don't end up :banghead: at a high rate of speed

I have a 2month old as well ( and a 3 yr old to boot). So my wife doesn't like me taking a lot of time for the track either. Since every trackday now is on a weekend it takes one of my "family days" to go to an event. So, what I'm doing this year (don't know whay it took me so long to think of it) is taking either the Friday before an event or the Monday after off of woork so me and my family still have a "2-day weekend." :thumb:
If we were doing Monday trackdays I'd be taking off work anyways, so waht's the difference, you know?

True... BUT... since she's working too, she'd have to take work off to have our family day.. and she used all her vacation time for maternity leave since he boss is a piece of shit and wouldnt give her enough time off.
We pretty much had it worked out that IF I can swing one bike day and one family day on weekends that i ride or go to the track, I could get away with it.
Thats why I'm kinda limited to Cresson and Eagles canyon since I Can just go down the night before and be home after the TD is over.
