I thought for a long time about takeing the course. I had read on this forum that the course was a good one and that the instructors were good. Well, the reports were not accurate.
In the classroom we had Louis and Walter, and they started "ragging" on each other from the very beginning. Just about the time the class fell into a solemn and almost hum drum environment, Walter would throw a nagging comment at Louis and he'd throw one right back. And they kept this up until the class was alert and attentive. What was great was that you didn't know who was going to say what or when. Kept us in stitiches the whole time. And we had quite a few perfect scores in class, so that speaks for their teaching ability.
When we went to the range, we had Walter and a gal named Debbie. And she and Walter relentlessly did the same things. They were always able to bring our spirits up and keep us alert and informed. In fact, I asked if they ever got serious and Walter said that it was all serious, but not necessarily comments between the instructors. And he was right. If we did not do an exercise just right for them, they would look each of us in the eyes and tell us what we HAD to do to get it right. Their teaching style was just terrific and a great confidence builder. Never a dull moment. When we needed to rest, we rested and sometimes more often than we wanted to. And we all passed.
Whoever the owners of Awesome Cycles are, they should clone Walter and Debbie for the range and Louis and Walter for the classroom. They make terrific teams. As an extra, Walter explained to us the proper ways to wave depending on the type of bike we were riding, and the proper use of a face shield.
As I opened saying, the classes were not good and the insturctors were not good--they were absolutely terrific. Or as Debbie kept yelling as she beeped the horn and made Walter jump each time---AWESOME!!!! I've considered taking the entire BRC class again as I learned so much.
