I think the coaches should be fired from both schools. one for being inept and the other for making his team feel guilty for being good and being winners. This is exactly what is wrong with america today. people are made to feel bad for being successful. :banghead:

dyselxia.... hardly a physical defect. even still if they were that bad then their coach shouldn't have put them up against "normal" kids.

Perhaps they got the goals reversed and were really only adding to the other team's points?

it also mentions short attention spans in the article. the ADD must have kicked in after the warmups and tip off.

eh... my kid has a.d.d. he is just as capable as the next kid. I still so no reason to punish the successful. the whole point to play a game is to win.

:banghead: my bad, wasn't making fun of your kid.
but true, why do they need to forfeit and apologize.

no apoligies.... no offense here. I find it offensive that kids go out and work hard to achieve a goal and then they are demoralized by their coach for working hard as a team to achieve a common goal. If the other team is really that bad they should not be playing ball or they need a new coach. Their defeat should either inspire them to work harder or self reflect to determine if they are ball playing material. Those kids might be better off knitting blankets... what ever gives them confidence. The winning team forfeiting the game won't change the fact that their ass was handed to them solidly.

no reason to punish any of the kids.
the losing team needs a new coach imo. i saw video clips of their practice on the news, and from what i saw he just stands arounds while the girls practice granny shots on their own. i dont think he knows anything about basketball. my point here is maybe with a real coach these girls could have a shot at getting some points. that would be more fair to them.
the winning team coach- yeah, its basicly unsportsmanlike conduct. no one is saying they need to throw in the towel and fake a loss. but you dont have to obliterate the other team either. a final score of 20-80 and this whole thing would not have blown up. if you are getting a runaway victory, its a good time to let your backups swap with the starters. just let the startes play for a few minutes at a time while the backups catch their breath. no reason to risk injury of your starters and it gives your backups valueable gametime experiance.
its also a good time to try out new schemes and trick plays. many of these things are not likely to work, but at least you used the opportunity to find out what did, and what didnt, or what you need to do to make them work.
it gives the losing team a more level playing field, while also giving the winning team good info they can use against a tougher opponent when they need to.

good points. I read that the school fired the coach of the winning team because he refused to apologize.

i think forfeiting the win is a bit extreme but preying on the weak to make yourself feel good?:eek3::shrug: they should feel bad:angry7:

They don't sound handicapped to me, sounds like they just suck.
I'm sure an apology will go out, but it shouldn't be needed. Screw those little whiney bitches.
