I got so tired of waiting at lights for a car to drive up so the magnetic field would get tripped so change them. I even went to Northern Tool and bought a mongo magnet and that didn't work.

So, I saw on another forum where someone discovered that lowering the kick-stand (or Jiffy-stand as HD would call it) onto the corner where the surface has the lines cut into it for the light sensors will interrupt that magnetic field and change the light. Well, I'm happy to say I tested that theory this morning and IT WORKED!!

can you just put the kickstand down on the line or does it need to be in the corner?

Corner from what I understood. Might work on the line, though.

woohoo!! i put that discovery up with those like electricity, internet and all..haha!!
i was sick of all the wait.. hope it works fine for all kinda bikes! :happy3:

It usually varies at different lights. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. And when you say corner.. do you mean the corner of the sensor box? I always park my bike in the middle of the box and the kickstand is more on the left center of the box.

I had my KS right on the line in the corner of the sensor box.

what happens if u tape a small magnet to ur shoe....wouldnt it disrupt the eletromagnetic field around the wire?????
if it worked u wouldnt have to lower the kick stand......

just asking

i mean actually stepping on the wire with the mag on ur shoe

woot, cool discovery. I stuck the little magnet on the bottom of mine "greenlight" I think its name was. It works sometimes, this is cool to do a double whammy to the light :icon_thum

really?

so you put the kickstand down where the corners meet?

do not go in the center of the box, drive over the line, thats where the coiled wire is and you need to break or disrupt the feild with the KS or a magnet, the closer to the line and or corner, the better I find.
I havent tired the KS but have experimented with the "greenlight" magnet. the line intrusion seems to work best and more often, but there are some lights it just won't trigger.. the KS with the magnet might be strong enough to trigger the tough / stubborn lights. Somebody get busy and pay attention to where you pull up and post your results with the KS , magnet or any other tricks and conumptions etc etc
