i never understood asking for an apprentice already with experience, if one already has experience doesn't that make him or her a journeyman? i am not being critical but was just wondering.

I was thinking the same exact thing when I read this.... An apprentice means you have no experience but want to get into a field with guidance from someone with lots of experience.

IE: dictionary.com 1. a person who works for another in order to learn a trade: an apprentice to a plumber.

I would love to apprentice as a electrician but I know I would probably have to take a pay cut to do it.
*edit* I just read it was for $10 an hour. Bummer I cant afford an $8 dollar pay cut right now.

apprentice is someone learning the trade. Boilermakers have a 4 year apprenticeship. Each trade is different. A apprentice with 1 year experience knows the work but is still learning and cheaper labor cost.

To get a texas state Journeymans license one has to have completed 8k (roughly 4 years of 40 hour work weeks) work hours under a master electirician to even be elegable to take the test, someone looking to accrue some hours towards thier journeymans license but already has an apprentace license would be a cantidate for this position

If it is typical electrician work i suspect the job site varies. Too bad my brother does not have it together, he has 2 years of experience.
