tips for cold track days...

if your leathers don't keep you warm enough - go to academy and buy you a quality $35 rainsuit... it's not the cold - it's the WIND... wearing a good rainsuit over your leathers will block out the bone chilling cold and not restrict you from hanging off as required... :icon_thum

Another option is UnderArmor.

Lower your tire pressure a bit(Patrick can probably chime in on this one).

Remember to drink water/gatorade. Even though it's not hot outside, your body is still using the fluids.

Anti-fog for your shield, or maybe duct tape around the nose area.

Since the weather won't allow for best lap times... this is a good time to work on lines, body position, troubled areas, etc.

Be sure to check and make sure the fluids in your bike's radiator haven't frozen, if you have the bike loaded on a trailer/in the back of the truck, exposed to the cold weather the night before the event.

and keep it on two wheels.. gettin hit by the ground is gonna hurt even worse when you're half frozen.

i wore thermal underwear when we went out this past monday at night. it wasnt on the track but we hit alot of freeways in mid 30 degree weather and the thermal held up with a windbreaker suit on.

It was cold riding yesterday(Dec. 10th). One thing I wish I woulda had was something to protect my neck from the wind. It got numb after a few laps and I wish I woulda bought the under armour with the "turtle neck" on it.
Also, tire warmers made me feel alot more confident when getting out on a cold track. It was funny because the tires actually started loosing grip after a few warm up laps, soo that just tells you what a cold track can do to tires.

Some of us feel that the kind of gloves that keep our hand warm are the kind that feel like wearing baseball mitts, so the best thing is to use your regular, high quality gloves and use latex gloves underneath.

i was out riding a couple of days ago and it was super cold out i rode from my house in la porte to a buddies house off of 1960.. and back.. it was really cold out and my only complaint was my hands were frozen.. even with my frank thomas gloves on.. i was wearing long john pants under my blue jeans.. but i had on my ninja mask i picked up at cycle gear.. it works great my only complaint on it is that if you turn your head around the part that drapes down your neck and goes under your jacket will come out.. and youll be blasted with cold air.. i cant wait til im confediant enough to go to a track day..
