I was a Union Boiler Maker for almost 9 years and have now been i the car business for 4 years. I am tried of the roller coaster and want to get back in the plants. I really do not want to take the pay cut but with the way things are going now i am taking anyways. Please let me now if you of anything going on. I do have a few feelers out and can not do anything until after Dec.16.

Thanks

ExxonMobil should be offering the employment test again sometime in the first or second quarter of 2009.

You should forget the BM stuff and stick with the pipe. So much is fab shop work now. You wouldnt stay steady being a BM these days.

not really wanting to go back as a BM, just want to get back to the plants. Unless this car business decides to go crazy.

not really turn around. I am trying to go to work for the plants, or a contractor that pays well, and works year round. Turn around work is not steady.

Good luck with this! Wayne was a BM when we met. He took a CWI course and test - cost a little bit- but within four months he was making double (hourly). Bluewave is an API- you should ask him how to get it. Those certs make a Huge difference in salaries.

it may sound weird but I enjoy the grunt work. Nothing better than coming home tired from working all day.

Its always been that way. I called the Union hall today and told me Feb. unless I want to travel again. Really do not feel like traveling.

if you wanna get into inspection i could probably find a home for you in Jan. if you have no inspection background you'd probably be looking at around $15/hr starting out. bust your ass and you can double it in a year.

Turn around work is not steady and you will work alot of hours when you do work, but i work about 7-8 months a year. you have to manage your money because of the 2-3 or more weeks between jobs.
