Does anyone have any input on this field?

Schools in the Houston, Spring, and Cypress area.
How long will my x-ray tech training take?
Trade schools or jr college?
What would you have done different?

I know it is on the other side of town for you but, call the ACC campus and they have a really good program. They might be able to lead you ion the right direction for the north side of town

SJC has the program too...I would advise you to actually do some research on it and be sure it's something you wanna do instead of just something that sounds easy & will pay the bills :thumb:

Sounds easy yes! But I've learned the hard way there is no such thing as easy money... I've been asking some people about it for awhile but haven't really got any decent answers.

Look into industrial x ray also. It pays good right now rates are around 27 an hour with 1 yr experience. Hit a t/a and make a couple grand a week. No college required.

Im now an API 570/510 with UY,RT,MT,PT
Look at www.inspectionjobs.com and you can get an idea of the pay available out there. There are some companies out there that pay for the 40 rad safety. Texas gama ray is one of them. They are not the best comp. to work for, but its a step in the right direction. The work can be really tough in the beginning. You have to have some grit and tough skin at times.

https://www.inspectionjobs.com/
look for NDT II or RT II or LVL I
these are the jobs I am talking about. You could work anywhere you want to work. To get an idea where you could be in a few years look at the API jobs, so show rates.

So when are the jobs kicking off? I'm ready to work.

egytrumpet is an x-ray tech. The pay is decent, but he's only doing it as an means to an end. He's going to school for physical therapy (I think).

If it's something you want to do, then I say go for it.

I should have read the thread first! Haha! I think Starcon still needs another CWI in Kentucky. :hello:

The rad tech program is two years (associates degree). The program is very competitive. Most applicants have a degree in another field and are often only considered with a GPA of 3.75 and up. But the payoff is great: Great pay, job security, women. Good luck with your endeavor!
