Gulf fishing report

Took out a new client on his Wellcaraft 33Costal last Friday-Saturday. We ran out 110 miles to the Crevesa platforms for some Tuna and what ever else we could find. Kind of bumpy at 3-5' but the boat did well. Total fish count...

8 Blackfin Tuna to 20lbs
7 Mahi-mahi to 18lbs
1 Rainbow runner
5 Cudas to 27lbs
1 Big ass Blue Marlin aprox. 450lbs.

A great day for the client and his friends, fought the Marlin on a smaller two speed Avet for 2.5 hours!! Light tackle Marlin anyone???

Caught the shark in the inflatable raft with a fisher price zebco knock-off running 2 lb test line throwing plastic worms. :rofl:

Ok, it was a Newell graphite reel with a home made liter and some large shad we caught in the surf. Caught 7 sharks that day. High Island between Dirty Pelican peir and the old Meacom's Peir.

Yeah, as soon as my buddy tossed his line in the red hit. We were throwing large shad that we caught with the cast net. No weight on the line. Didn't chum or anything. Once he got the bull red up to the raft and had it on the stringer we decided it would be a good idea to head back to shore so a big shark doesn't hit the red and take us with him. I started to reel in my line and the black tip hit it hard. Burned my thumb.....started reeling him in and then we noticed the truck on shore was getting smaller. He was pulling the raft around. Then he decided to do circles around the raft and we played hell not getting the red on the stringer and the anchor line tangled with my line. Good times. There must have been a lot of sharks out there because I even fowl hooked a big one. Poor thing drowned since I was pulling him backwards. My buddy ate it, though. The red tasted great. We bled him out and then cooked him on the half shell. I have a great recipe.
