Question. How do you write down the tire thread dept. using the penny test ?

I know that if you put a penny in the groove and can see the top of Abe’s head it’s past 3/32 sec’s of thread. The reason I ask is because, I just got a new tire and it got a screw in it. My insurance needs me to tell them the depth. I took a picture of the penny in the groove on the tire. The mechanics wanted nothing to do with my insurance people so they won’t talk to me. But how do I write it. His head almost disappears in the groove so how many would that be? Exp: ?? 1/32, 5/32, 30/32

the top if abe's head is ~2/32, and yes they have tread depth gauges you can prolly buy at walmart or auto store

for the $150, i wouldn't claim it on ins.

That's what I was thinking. Claimin it on insurance, deductible is usually 500 bucks, it'll be cheaper to just buy a new tire. Unless you wrecked your bike, but I hope you didn't.

I have tire insurance. Its for like flats, punctures, and blow outs, stuff like that. $300 for like 4 years or something. So far i've gone threw 9 back tires and 1 fron tire. The dealership use to handle it for me but now i have to deal with the company. there cool and all but i just need to know how to get the depth. the only down side is that every shop i got to would deal with tire insurance companies. i just went and did the penny trick and its in the middle of abes fordead above his nose. so is that like 8/32. I'm going to walmart tonight. Thanks yall!
