making roads 2 wheel friendly

there are a lot of construction sites going on around my suburbs right now and it made me wonder...how much responsibility do companies/people have in cleaning up the mess they make on the road?
say there's a rock pile that some tractors constantly come and go from, taking rocks, and they drop them all over the street as they do so, making it very dangerous for motorcycles. do they have any legal obligation to clean up their mess? are there any specific laws regarding this kind of stuff?

yes they are suppose to clean any excessive debris from the roadways.

I think so but 100%. I worked road construction for a short time. We would have to sweep the road 4 times a day and make sure the cones are facing the right way and a bunch of other bs just so the company would not get sued.

not just sued but fined from the state.

I would try pissing in the wind first....you will get further doing that. The companies are paying the county. I don't think the county is going to mess with them.

I'm sure someone there is getting $$$ as well. But who would you call. OSHA regulates a lot but not sure if they would cover that and they shut down a government job just as quick as a non-government job.

seriously....it pisses me off every time i come into a turn and there's a shitload of gravel/rocks waiting for me.
i know we're the minority and we can't expect everyone to cater to us totally, and a lot of the times the rocks/gravel/etc are probably no one in particular's fault, but i think a lot of people/companies need to become more motorcycle-conscious. either that, or motorcyclists need to form some kind of street debris-watch program if no one else will.

A friend went down at night riding home from debris left in the roadway by a construction company about a year ago. A cop showed up at the scene and filled out a report. He contacted the construction company, got 2 or 3 estimates for everything, and they sent him a check.

they can be and i have seen the ticketed for leaving debris bhind. I would definately cantact the local plice and file reports so they have this on file. Is this in a county, city????

i'm not sure what you would consider it....a MUD i think. it's a suburb of a city.

i would definatley call the local police and get in on file for sure. When they were building by us the would clean the streets allot, also the city inspector would stop in and let them know they needed to clean up. It does suck when your on the ride and there is dirt, rocks, gravel everywhere.

can't call anyone right now with my mouth messed up, but i'll definitely be looking into it. i just didn't think anyone would take it very seriously since most people drive cars and rocks are usually gonna be on the road anyways...but it is ridiculous how much rocks have accumulated on a lot of our corners from these damn tractors
