vin number question

im currently about to purchase a salvaged bike. now the thing that bothers me is that because this frame is salvaged, would it be reasonable for the seller to buy a bunch of parts to replace all parts that were messed up? is there also any other way i can find out if there are any other vin numbers besides the one on the frame to check to see if it has stolen parts or is a stolen bike?

only the engine block and frame have a VIN #

and i personnally wouldn't buy a totalled bike. unless it was a "steal"

true unless your going to use it for lets say a stunt bike then i probably would care a whole lot...
