You looking for a pup? or something older?

If you're looking for something that color you may want to try a Malamute.
IMO they are a better dog and haven't been as overbred / inbred as the Husky.

I've never dealt with these guys but know a couple who have.

I have an 8 yr old Husky Female. Even after being fixed, she is one of the most excitable dogs I've ever been around or owned. She is smart as hell but has very limited focus. I assume you are familliar with huskies, if not, the blowing of the coat can be alot to keep up with year round. Good luck in your search...

i've done some research, although not as much as i probably should. I had a chow-chow for a few years and i can handle the coat problems. Thanks for the comment though.

If you like the attitude of a german shephard, with the look of a husky.
Then get a wolf-dog. You can usually find husky wolf-dogs, or malamute mixes that are either 1/2, or only 1/4 wolf. VERY intelligent, yet a lifelong commitment. You treat them as a family member, and not just a pet. Meaning they live in the house, they go on extended vacations with you, and some even sleep in bed with you. And no other dog will be as loyal, protective, and affectionate.

thanks man, i'll look into that as well. i do like the wolf look of a dog, and the intelligence factor is definitely one of my most important. i don't just want a dog. it's like u said, i want an addition to the family :icon_smil

Wolfdogs are $500-700, be careful though. Some dealer find mutts that look like wolfdogs and sell them for ridiculous prices.
If you plan on having children, or have children under the age of 12, you will need a way to keep the wolfdog away. And you can not chain them, or confine them to small pens. You need at least a 1600sq ft pen if your going to leave them outside, and the cage should have a roof, or have the overhang because they can climb chain links fences, and also jump higher than you think.
There's is a lot of thought that goes into buying a wolfdog, they havee to be socialized properly. And you can NEVER hit one, they are smart enough to question what you do. Where a regular dog will sit, because you told him to. Over, and over again. It is MUCH harder to get a wolfdog to do the same, they get bored and see no need for it.
