Thinking about buying a pick-up or flatbed truck
to start running Hotshot deliveries. Does anyone
know of any good companies?

I use SAC services at my company a lot when I can not cover hot shots or things of that nature.

They are really good people over there. Let me know if you want their phone number and I will PM it to you.

with gas prices your better off finding a company with trucks looking for drivers, unless maybe your just trying to do a little extra on the side, i was going to get into in about a year ago, mostly from what i was told is you better have some money in the bank before you get started

My cousin does this for a living, and the gas prices are killing him. He is on the road all the time just to make ends meet. And he has been doin this for years, and has a large client base.

Don't be like my brother. He thought he was going to strike it rich by doing hotshot work. I can see you making a lil money if you pay for everything cash, mainly the truck and trailer. Those will be your biggest costs if you don't have them already. Not to mention fuel and maintenance. I'm giving you numbers off the top of my head but here goes.

2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually with CTD: $35,000 (financed)
38 Foot Flatbed Gooseneck: $8,000 (financed)
Gooseneck Hitch for truck: $500.00
Straps, Tie downs, etc: $500.00

So my bro goes and finances all this stuff with loans and CC's and then the price of Diesel skyrockets. So before he even sees a profit he has to make the payments on all this stuff plus fuel, insurance, and maintenance.
He's barely making ends meet and can't unload the truck because no one wants to buy a diesel truck right now. Hotshot driving is a hustle at best and if you don't own everything outright from the beginning then expenses will kill you.
