DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY BIKE, CUZ THE MECHANICS HERE IN COLLEGE STATION AREA DONT.......
i own a 2002 CBR F4i, and it's been running pretty good since i bought it, but just recently, every once in a while, i would turn the key and try to start the bike and my head lights will not work, and once i press the ignition button to start the bike, IT WILL START, BUT ONCE I LET THAT BUTTON GO, THE BIKE SHUTS OFF, it happend to me in school one day, and i had to hold the button in with my thumb to ride home in first gear......it has happend 3 times so far, but it only happens for a period of maybe 3 hours, then it like magically fixes itself, i have check everything, and nothing seems to be wrong, and i asked couple of bike mechanics and they just told me to keep riding it, because they never seen anything like that before, they said it could be like a spider or something in my starter that's preventing the bike from engaging after ignition, but why wouldnt my head lights work, because everytime it happens my haedlights dont work, and everytime it magically fix itself, my headlights work again......so like when it happens only way i know it fixed itself is when i turn my key and my headlights turns on.

Sounds like possibly the starter relay or the plug going into it. Pull the plug and make sure the terminals aren't melted or corroded.

have u checked the start button itself?
if it sticks the headlight will not come on. before anything i would spray some wd-40 into the switch and work a couple times.
I have had this problem with my v-max a time or 2 but in my case the starter keeps spinning altho the headlight stays off.
a cheap try anyway.

The start button doesnt stick, the headlights doesnt come on when i turn the key into ignition, theoretically, if you press the starter button the headlights go off, so, i guess vice versa if the headlights are problematic then the bike doesnt start? it's kinda confusing, and i dont know what's really wrong with it, getting a mechanic to break it down this weekend, hope it doesnt cost too much to fix......
