I went out to Katy for practice today. I start the bike and shift to 1st. No go. Kill the engine to check the clutch adjustment and the bike wouldn't start after that. Bike must be in Neutral to start so I figure it's the clutch.
Get it home and pull it apart ... it was the clutch alright. There was metal dust in the oil and this is what the clutch looked like disassembled:

The nut that holds the clutch assy came loose, that's why it wasn't working. I reassembled everything and the bike started up Ok. Just wondering how long the clutch will last with that broken tab. Anyone seen anything like this before?

i thought there were like 5/6 tabs. you just have to set 1 inside the clutch nut

Technically the tabs only carry the load. That one dipped down a bit into the friction face. Anyones guess at this point. I should have a back up by then. Hopefully manual.:D

You're talking about the retainer ring that goes under the nut?
The broken tab was on the drive plate (2nd pic)

Do you have the clutch tool/socket that will fit the retainer nut? The manual says it should be torqued to 31 lb/f.

Should have the gasket kit by Tues or Wed. Might just go ahead and replace the discs & plates while I'm at it. Wouldn't hurt.
They don't sell the drive plate by itself. You have to buy the whole kit. :/:

with that break make sure you get a new basket as well.
I guess it is good news that it was only the clutch. Hopefully you will have it put back together soon.

It's the manual clutch.
Do you think that the drive plate from the autoclutch will fit in the manual clutch basket? TB doesn't sell the drive plate (the piece that I broke) as a seperate item.

possible, you may invest in a billet basket, with the power your motor makes and the unforgivness of the pavment, its only time before that basket explodes.

I'm saving up for the Billet basket ($125!).
It turns out that TB actually does warranty their parts. I may be able to get a new clutch. Waiting for a call back from the supplier.

Props to HondaTrailBikes.com. I told them about the broken drive plate. Since it's less than a year old they're gonna send me a replacement!
I also ordered this bad boy (thanks, Rick for helping with the cost):
Billet Clutch Housing. Safe for engines up to 135cc & 15K RPM

We already use it for extra friction, 400 grit seems to work best. You'll have to figure the compuond. :angel10:
Not letting the secret out just trying to up the competition. :D

We drill a 1/4" hole in the piston head too. It helps to relieve pressure in the cylinder and give more RPM's. :keke:
