Illegal to serve obese people

FEBRUARY 1--Mississippi legislators this week introduced a bill that would make it illegal for state-licensed restaurants to serve obese patrons. Bill No. 282, a copy of which you'll find below, is the brainchild of three members of the state's House of Representatives, Republicans W. T. Mayhall, Jr. and John Read, and Democrat Bobby Shows. The bill, which is likely dead on arrival, proposes that the state's Department of Health establish weight criteria after consultation with Mississippi's Council on Obesity. It does not detail what penalties an eatery would face if its grub was served to someone with an excessive body mass index.

how are they to tell if your too fat? put you on a scale at the restaurant and if you weight over a certain amount, you dont get food?

I don't know what you mean. 20 lbs over ideal body weight for your height and build is obese. Ideal for my height and build is 185. I weigh is at 215lbs. Most of america is technically obese...

I like it, bur only for the comedy not the rule-crazy govt. but what if there was a clause that stated they could eat there, but had to run laps around the eatery before being served? or if the menu had suggestions on bulimia, and how to get started? ( I don't want to hear 1 word about it being a disease that's BS, no one in a starving country has that it's a luxury of wealth/stupidity and I eschew it) or if they could show their gym mmembership, complete with last completed workout/calories burned?

Are you talking BMI? If your just going off of weight then yea alot of people are over weight for thier height.

I have no idea what my BMI is... Honestly I really don't care. My target weight that I set for my self is 190. Any more than that I feel like I am going to blow away. Processed sugar and flour are evil and are bad for waist lines...

First, understand one important point about the BMI tables. The majority of studies on obesity performed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) use the BMI tables. The BMI is a flawed system, however, because its calculations inaccurately account for athletic builds. What this means is that according to BMI, almost every football player in the NFL is overweight or obese. As stated in Fat Politics, according the BMI tables, Michael Jordan is overweight and Arnold Schwarzenegger is obese (Oliver 16). This does not mean that it is okay to disregard all the studies and figures, the BMI tables are still useful. What it does mean, is that everyone should have a level of understanding to interpret the reports, and what the media spreads, properly. It is a safe assumption that the increase in American adults who qualify as overweight or obese in CDC studies are not all qualified because they have the build of an NFL linebacker. The vast majority of these adults are indeed overweight or obese.
